yup.. lately the optical folk are asking about grpc/yang as I recall.

This is mostly optical/line h/w though; not that we do not have to
program them, but even they are evolving, slowly. at least most
routers/etc have evolved well past tl1 or BayNetworks' cli.

let's do yang! (which is standardized - almost - but still vendor
proprietary - mostly - yay!)

there's a significant portion of the networked world that's still
doing tl1 (some version of the 'standard'... which is vendor specific,
yay!) none of those things are juniper though.

Wow! I've not heard of TL1 in a long time. It was actually on the
list of possible protocols when we built our initial API back in
1998 or so. We thought it was one of the one customers would want,
but no one ever asked for it so it was dropped and mostly forgotten.

I don't know of any C libraries for TL1, but my guess is that at
this stage you'd be better off teaching your NMS to work with current
technologies (NETCONF and YANG) than to teach your devices TL1.

What application are you looking to interface with?

I haven’t seen any, you may need to implement your own.

I am not sure why this is on the Juniper list - does Juniper have any products
with TL1 support?
