I am having no trouble in right clicking the Individual in Family View to

That's because the Source options have now been moved to the "Additional"
tab->Source Options for the Book (it's the second tab after Contents).
All

of the items in your book will use the Source settings selected from the
"Additional" tab ->Source Options.

Is anyone else having a problem with customizing the font in a book
created

in the Publishing Center? I have a specific font selected in the
Descendant/Ancestor individual Report Options, and for a Multiple Lines of
Descent Report, but it will not "transfer" to the settings in the
Publishing

Center.

Selecting "Edit Settings For Current Chapter" shows the font I have
chosen,

but the font is incorrect in the print preview, when the report is done
through the Publishing Center. Individual Descendant/Ancestor reports,
done

outside of the Publishing Center, preview with the correct font.

Additionally, in the Publishing Center, a Multiple Lines of Descent Report
does not allow for the printing of sources - the entire "Sources" tab is
grayed out. Sources are allowed, however, when creating a Multiple Lines
of

Descent Report outside of the Publishing Center.

Version: 7.0.0.109

File maintenance - done.

Reboot system - done.

Reset and select specific fonts - done.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Judy,

Apologies for an incorrect reply in my previous post. I was certain that I
tested my report in the Publishing Centre, but obviously not, as the
generations *are* starting on a new page even when the "start each
generation on a new page is unchecked". You are correct in saying that the
Reset button does not correct this.

I must be getting tired! Yes, you need to report this as a bug, as Jenny

I'm pretty sure I've missed something, but can't figure out what.

I have multiple chapters in a book - the descendant reports look
fine, with sources as endnotes after each chapter.
But the Ancestor reports continue to break after each generation -
starting each generation on a new page, even though I have
unchecked the box in the page layout report options to start a new
page after each generation.

Creating an Ancestor Report, starting in the "Books and Other"

Anyone have any suggestions on how to eliminate the page breaks in
an Ancestor Report when using the Publishing Center?

Mike,
What I am doing is this:
Let's say I have 5 individuals who are found in this source ( a letter)...
Then I use the name of the letter for the master source, then for each
individual I was quoting the text that referred to them. In my case, they
were all the same source. I do see your predicament and can't offer you any
good advice, as I am just starting out.

[LegacyUG] Master source question

2009-09-03 Thread Judy
I have a question about master sources. I am a new user, and am adding some
new people to my file. I have a document (a letter) which I want to use as a
master source for these new people.

So I created a master source, and started inputting the pertinent text for
each person as I went along.

However, I find that this seems to be a snowballing effect...the text for
the last person reappears for the new person and so on.

How do I create a master source, such as a document, that is used for
multiple people, and just refer to the part that pertains to a certain
individual in that individual's source?

Thank you all for your suggestions. Sherry, I am going to try yours first,
as you are familiar with Generations and I know exactly what you are talking
about...whereas I am not familiar yet with Legacy.

I did use a lot of free form sources in Generations, particularly the
further along I got with the file...

Thanks again,

[LegacyUG] Imported sources question

2009-08-28 Thread Judy
I imported a gedcom with about 3,000 names in it. When I click on an
individual's sources (click the books) quite a few just say "source" as the
source list name and also on the output tab on the bottom of the screen.
When I look at the "text of source" or comments, I see what I want the
source to say. I want to add the detail (text) to the main source line, as
it were, but when I do that, it says I will be changing ALL references to
that master source. What exactly does that mean?

I was using Generations where all sources were numbered, and I am a little
confused.

Thank anybody for help,
Judy

Re: [LegacyUG] Multiple Prefixes

2009-08-27 Thread Judy

Robert~

It is common, in the RC religion, to address a priest as Reverend Father
So-and-So. Not too cumbersome, if it is a little familiar. I don't know
much about the proper PhD or DD addresses.

Judy

I do not want to start a long thread, but how are you handling multiple
prefixes? I have a few people in my family who were both doctors (not
medical drs, but doctors of the faith), and also they were known as
Reverends. Entering "Reverend Doctor" into the prefix seems strange. Is
there a better way? (I am thinking about "Rev. Dr." Shorter, anyway, but it
is proper?)

Thanks.

Is there an easy way to get the charts from the charting program to appear
in the books created by the publishing centre? Obviously I'd need to keep
them to the same page size, but they are so much nicer than the standard
reports ones. I realise I could just physically put them in, but it would
be nice to still have page numbers. I suppose I could create them as jpegs
and use the picture scrap book thing, but then I'd have to create a dummy
person, and it's a bit clunky, surely there's a better way (or is there
anything planned to improve this?)<

Jeremy
I use the publishing centre and where I want to insert the charts, I insert
a place holder in the Chapter List. I add a title to the placeholder (the
Chart name so it will show up in Table of Contents). When you print your
book, you remove the placeholder page and insert the chart that you have
printed from Legacy Charting. It will have the correct page number in the
Table of Contents.

Hope that this helps

Is there a way to eliminate the boxes' default "3rd column" (or merge it
with the 2nd column) since it is unused in this tree? Because of the empty
3rd column in each box the longer names in the 2nd column get split into 2
lines when they could easily fit if the blank 3rd column space was
available

to them. I would rather not reduce font size when box real-estate is
available but unused.

Jeff
If you select your box items and under "Settings" click alignment "Centre",
you will find that your names will spread across the whole box. If one of
your selected items is say aligned left, then you will have the 2nd and 3rd
columns combined, compressing your first item to 2 columns. If you have
selected another item aligned right you will finish up with 3 columns and
much compressed information. I usually select all items "Centre" aligned.

Re: [LegacyUG] Charting question

Jeff
If you do the sizing first then you may not need to do as much dragging.
Carefully selecting where you drag can avoid the "weird" connecting lines.
However, if the chart is too large, requiring a great deal of compression,
to fit on a single page, this may be impossible. You need to experiment a
bit. It is great fun!

Judy

Jeff wrote

Thanks. But when you drag the boxes the connecting lines go into weird
angles and as far as I can see there seems no way to change them - or is
there and I have not found out how?

Jeff

Not only can you drag the boxes but you can use the sizing function under
the Appearance tab. You can then change the size of the boxes, the
distance between generations and the closeness of the boxes. This
function with the dragging options allows you great flexibility in
fitting your chart to the size and shape required.

I, too, track individuals through census pages, and would appreciate knowing
how others keep track of "other people", who at one time may not be
recognized as related, but after further work, end up being so.

For instance - a person may be a boarder at a particular residence, in any
given census year, and I note, in the source, with whom he/she is living,
but see no way to keep track of these "extra" people. I just recently
discovered a marriage certificate for a person, went searching for the
family in census records and found that I had reference to them in a census
source, recorded years earlier. The "boarder" living with the family was
actually a niece - daughter of the wife's sister, for whom I had adequate
information in a distant state.

Putting the "residing with" in an event field would seem to clutter up a
report. Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated.

If you are displaying descendants from the husband and desired spouse, then
do a descendant chart of the spouse. If this desired spouse has other
spouses these need to be made invisible (Individual View & Privacy
settings). You also need to make the children of the invisible spouses
invisible or the children will just record with their visible parent (one
parent only shown). Further generations will not be displayed in chart.
You could just tag in Legacy those you want displayed and create a new
database but I think the above is the bestter option. Remember to make the
invisible individuals visible after you have made your chart

Subject: [LegacyUG] Clipboard source details

I'm having a problem that I have never had before. I think it appeared
after the latest upgrade. I'm using V7 deluxe. I am not using Source
Writer and have customized to indicate that.

I routinely save a master source to the clipboard, leaving the details
blank, because the details change with every entry. That way I can use
the same source many times. However, all of a sudden, whenI retrieve the
master source from the clipboard, the details from the previous entry are
there and have to be deleted.

Here's the process as it is now happening:
1. save source to clipboard with no details (I usually do it on the
sources screen in the search list )

2. retrieve the source from the clipboard (I'm an Alt-2 fan) for entry #1
3. add the details for entry #1
4. save entry #1
5. retrieve the source from the clipboard for entry #2
6. delete the details from entry #1
7. add the details for entry #2
4. save entry #2

It doesn't matter whether the two entries are for the same person or a
different person. It also doesn't matter whether it is the same event or
a different one.

Is there some place where I can change an option so the details won't
automatically be added to the clipboard?

I'm concerned about this, fearing that I will miss deleting something and
it will be carried over to the new entry incorrectly.

Re: [LegacyUG] Dictionaries

2009-01-31 Thread Judy

Hi Mike~

No apology needed. Your suggestion worked beautifully - an old greeting
card program - long since deleted - "took ownership" of about 30 file
extensions, including .tlx and .clx files in the Legacy dictionary. I
switched the associations to Notepad and all is well.

Thanks for the input.

Judy

My apologies. I see that the tlx files are in fact plain text and
therefore can be edited with Notepad. On a Vista system, with no
application associated with the TLX extension, double-clicking one of them
results in a query as to whether Vista should pick a program from the
local system or use a Web service. The local computer is, of course, the
way to get Notepad associated with all TLX files.

I would postulate that sometime in the past you either went the Web
service route, or had installed some greetings card software. To be able
to open TLX files with notepad, you now need to use the Default Programs
to a) remove whatever it is that 'owns' TLX files, and b) make Notepad the
new owner.

Re: [LegacyUG] Dictionaries

Thank, Don. I know it is editable, as I've done it before, but I currently
have no such *.tlx*files in my dictionary folder. EVERY one is a like to a
greeting card site. The help files give directions, but the entire
dictionary contains only the words:

#LID 24941
LegacyFamilyTree i
Millennia i
MillenniaCorp i
Ringgold i
Tingley i

Downloading and reinstalling the program has not helped.

Judy

Actually you can edit the dictionaries. Go to C:\Legacy\Dictionaries (or
where ever you Legacy installed). Use a text editor (such as Notepad) and
you can edit the files that end with *.tlx*.

Re: [LegacyUG] Incorporating Narratives From Sources into a Report

Cathy, Dennis, Michele and Elizabeth~

Thank you for your ideas and suggestions. Cathy, your idea of "Newspaper
Article" for an event worked very well. It is not exactly what I had wanted
to accomplish but your way results in a "tidier" report page layout. I am a
confirmed "splitter" but lumping odd snippets of miscellaneous information
under a newspaper heading, with a one or two sentence "lead in" to the
source text, in the event notes, allows me to keep clean pages without a
bulk of information for any one person. Many thanks.

Judy,

I have been researching in newspapers lately and found articles for some
people in my database. To add the article into my Legacy database so that
it will print nicely in the Descendant Book [a.k.a. Modified Register
Report], I've set up an event entitled "Newspaper Article." The following
is the way I set up the sentence structure:

There was a newspaper article mentioning [FirstName] in the
"[Desc]" published [Date] [~inPlace]. [Sources] [Notes]

Then I can add the entire article into the [Notes] section of the event.
However, I format the article in the Notes section so that it is
italicized. The article then shows up nicely in the Modified Register
report. While I include the newspaper name in the [Desc], I also include
it in the source citation. The [~inPlace] is where I place the location of
where the newspaper is published.. The Source citation has more detailed
information including the page number and column number on the page.

[LegacyUG] Clipboard Source Automatically Changing

2008-12-31 Thread Judy
Prior to these latest minor updates, I had been able to create a Master
source, without using the Source Writer, fill in the general details for the
source and copy it to the clipboard, leaving the text/comments blank. I
could then apply the source to multiple individuals, filling in the
text/comments section as the specific details applied to each person.

But currently, even if I save a source with "blank" text/comments to the
clipboard, each time I add specifics for an individual, those specifics are
added to the clipboard, which is very annoying and making sourcing a very
irritating experience. The specifics will not apply to the next person for
whom I wish to use the original clipboard source.

What happened to the old source clipboard? It was hard enough when the
tabbed clipboard was removed, but this "new feature" that has popped up all
of a sudden is maddening!! Any solutions in sight?

Michelle
You do not have to keep going back to the individual to add a new sources to
the clipboard. You can save up to 10 sources on the clipboard as you could
in Version 6 .When you want to add saved source(s) to another individual all
you need to do is right click on the "Open source clipboard" blue triangle
in the new assigned sources window and a dropdown list displays all saved
sources. One click and the source is added. I found the 5 tabs in version 6
confusing and preferred this method more useful

Judy

That is what I am doing now but I didn't have to do it in version 6. Now
I highlight a source and copy it. I open up the other person and copy it
that person. Then I have to go back to the other person and highlight
another source and then go to the 2nd person and copy it.

To clarify... this is if I have TWO sources for one event! I want to copy
BOTH sources at the same time so that I can paste both sources to another
person at one time.

Re: [LegacyUG] appending?

Michele~

We can no longer "append" sources in Version 7. Version 6 had the fantastic
capability of allowing us to have multiple sources available on a "tabbed"
clipboard and "append" or overwrite on the tabs. Version 7 does not offer
us that option.

Still a great program.

Judy

My questions was not answered. Can we or can we not append sources?

When I am working on a specific person and I go into his/her source list
and I highlight a source I want to copy, I could swear that version 6
would ask you do you want to overwrite or append. Now when I do that I
only get the option to overwrite (version 7).

Someone did answer my question but they misunderstood what I was asking.

Sherry's solution fixed my problem. I suggest that you contact her to see if

I had your problem of the correct field being highlighted in the Child

Markie Flint Blackmon wrote on August 24, 2008 11:11 AM

Hi Judy,

I exported to a new family file and that works great for the Master
List issue, but exporting caused all initial entry and modification
dates within the file to be set to today's date, and I really don't
want to lose that trail.

If I right-click a child in Family View that has a child status of
"Twin" and then click the down-arrow on the Child Status drop-down box
for that Twin, the Master Child Status List is displayed. The list is
still empty, but this time the grid is displayed, albeit with no data.
If I click on one of the blank entries, I get the following error
message:

"True DBGrid 6 Data access error ".

What to do when Grids go bad? I remember in an earlier release of
Clooz 2.0, data disappearing from the grid was a common problem; I
believe restarting Clooz fixed it. I've cold started my PC, and it
doesn't help.

Thanks,
Margaret

2) Contents: Four Chapters (each a different line, based on MRIN)

3) Additional: Source Options>Print Source Citations> as endnotes after
each chapter>Save

4) Preview

All of the sources are after the Final Chapter with no indication to which
line they refer.

Any suggestions?

[LegacyUG] SourceWriter

2008-08-18 Thread Judy Wardlaw
With the SourceWriter, is there a way to eliminate n.p., n.d. etc that
appear in source output for footnote/endnote and bibliography (preview and
report) when you have elected to not fill in some of the fields in the
source input screen, particularly with the generic ones. I presume n.p. = no
publisher and n.d. = no date but I would prefer that they did not appear in
the output.

New After I load my ftm11 gencom into Legacy 7.0 ( I have vista
Premium) all seem to load ok listed all in name list of each 12,648 people
but when I go to family view only a few generation shows when I have 16
generation in my fathers surnames only goes to my grandfather and his
Parents are blank even my sister children are not listed as listed in FTM.
If I tried to add Parents and click add to existing person they are added
to the spot but when tried to add the spouse to add her to the family view
page a window opens saying is already linkedas spouse do I want to relink
her if I do it lists a second marriage and a nother problem to solve and
remove. If I say no she is not added to the family view page.

In Legacy in the name list they are there and sibling and Parent and
children and data )as I click Parents some do not list the children( I have
to click them in from the list. I had nor some the Parent are not listed
that are in the name list.Do I have to this for all the missing
siblings and Parents and children in the 12, 648 of people- family members
again to have in Legacy 7.0 ?? Why didn't they all list in the family view
as was in the gencom file I up loaded from FTMv. 11 ?? Others said they
never had a problem with theirs from FTM v. 16 ---if they are understanding
me. If so I think I will go back to FTM. That is a lot ot add back in.

There are no "new" clipboard icons. The same icons were available in V6.
The 3 bars icon that was discussed in the other thread is available in the

Re: [LegacyUG] fixing locations in imported file

Jane~

I had to do the same thing when I switched from FTM. The "Search and
Replace" feature that Legacy offers will help. Search>Search and Replace>
Lists-Location. Check exact match and replace only found text with
replacement text. Try it on your sample database, FIRST, to get a feel of
how it works and if the end result is what you want.

Best of luck.

Judy

In order to get locations properly stated in my 4000+ file that I have
imported into Legacy, it appears I must go through and change all those
for whom I have

(example) Marshall Co. ALA to

 , Marshall County, Alabama, USA

A daunting task indeed.

Otherwise, I fear I will not be able to use the new "Mapping feature",
even when I find out what it is and how to use it.

When you say "the way" it displays them, I presume you mean the fact that
they are displayed in the Footnotes/Endnotes, not the look of them.
Assuming that is so, you have a few options:

1 Don't enter the URL when creating your Sources
2 Enter the URL somewhere where it won't print - maybe in Comments.
3 Enter the UR: within [[privacy brackets]].
4 Copy the displayed Footnote/Endnote Citation into the appropriate place
on the Override tab and delete the URL. You can leave the default version
of the Citation in place in case you wish to revert to it.

Hi Judy,

Are you using 7.0.0.45?
I can't reproduce it here but you could be right as there are so many
options and changing an option or two can trigger different problems. Some
weeks ago there was a problem with missing marriages in one of the
reports, I can't recall which, but that was fixed.

Try the report with the default settings.
If you still have the problem, try deleting the ances.usr file and setting

Judy,

You should turn on the option for the US County Verifier. Click on
Options > Customize and select the Data Entry tab. Make sure there is a
check in the box for 'Verify US Counties in Place Names'.

Now when you are in individual's information screen and type a date &
place like: 17 April 1805 - Attica, Wyoming, New York, and then move to
another field, you will get a message that says, "Wyoming County did not
exist in 1803 in the state of New York. It was not founded until 1841."

If you click the Show County List button, the next screen will tell you
that the parent county is Genesee.

There is also a global USA County Verification tool that is reached by
choosing USA County Verifier from the Tools menu. This feature lets you
check all the location fields in all the records of your family file to
verify the validity of county names for locations in the United States.
An error is reported if:

* No county by that name was ever found in that state. (This could be
also be the result of a misspelling.)

* The county was not in existence in this state at the date specified.

* The county had been dissolved in this state before the date specified.

There are options in this screen as well; click the Help button for more
details.

In addition, there is the AniMap program for historical boundary changes
for US counties. If you really want a great program, try AniMap I highly
recommend it. You can see a free preview of AniMap at
http://www.millenniacorp.com/_videos/animap/animap.html.

If you wish to buy AniMap please visit out online store at

Thank you for choosing Legacy,

[LegacyUG] V6 Geo Locations - Boundary Changes

2008-05-29 Thread Judy
Has anyone discovered a sure-fired way to select the "proper" city/county
listings for US cities when the city remains the same, but the county
changes.

For example - Attica, New York. Prior to 1841, Attica was in Genesee County
and after it was in Wyoming County. I've noted the boundary changes in the
"Notes" section of each location, but short of memorizing county formation
dates or opening the location each time I use it, there doesn't seem to be a
way to easily identify the "correct" city/county combination. Can the notes
be made to show up rather than just presenting with an "X"?

Suggestions gratefully appreciated.

Re: [LegacyUG] How Do You Handle Two Sided Documents?

2008-05-16 Thread Judy
I use a program called ScanSoft by Nuance http://www.nuance.com/ - it scans
beautifully and will take almost any file format and convert multiple single
pages into a multi-page but single .pdf file. Works very well with Legacy.
Does a pretty good job with OCR, too.

Check with your scanner software. I have scanned items, especially when
using OCR, and told it there was more than one page. Then the two pages
were in the same file. It's been awhile so I can't tell you how I did it or
if it would work for photos. If I get a chance this weekend I'll take a
look.

Whatever you want to call it, you have to turn the page over on the scanner
and hit the Scan button again, which means you get two pages/images. Legacy

I save it in

Then I do a maintenance update then resave the file as above.

Is there anyone in the Geelong area of Victoria, Australia using Legacy that
I could contact to help me sort out the saving of my Legacy ReidGanly Data

The way I have done this is to go to the Home page and adjust the size of
the chart so that I can see all the pages. My objective was to stop
splitting a box or marriage over a page break and by using the options on
the bar on the left it was reasonably easy to move the boxes around to avoid
this and optimise the pages.

I agree that to prevent boxes being split over page breaks is desirable.
My problem is with cutting and pasting pages. As the margin is very narrow,
the pasting area is very small. I cannot adjust this margin in Page Setup.
If we could set up (adjustable) slightly wider margins this would be
easier - or even better, an option to overlap the chart at page breaks as
can be selected with FTM charts (at least the old version 10)

I don't know if this is helpful or not, but I think Cathy has
summarized correctly, from the trials I have done. The omission of my

the last one in the report...there are actually two generations after
him (he has children and grandchildren). > I have also run a trial through
another family line, in case it was

just occurring in the W Tibbets line. The same problem is also
occurring there.

Using the problem generation as the last. ie a spouse without children.
In Descendant Book Report, under the Options tab, under "Include main
entries for" the last item "show spouses for children who will have a main
entry" is this ticked? I unchecked this box and only checked "all
individuals" Then I could replicate your problem.

Maybe this is your problem?

Re: [LegacyUG] Comment about the Source Clipboard

2008-02-11 Thread Judy Wardlaw
I think the confusion is the tabs. Ignore them! Taking the sources one at a
time to Clipboard (from the assigned sources window). Make sure you click
prompt for detail. Save them, give them a name. When you have those you
require (up to 10) all you need to do is RIGHT CLICK the clipboard icon in
assigned sources wimdow and select the single source you require. You dom't
even have to click the LOAD button. I think someone mentioned this before
but it hasn't been noted .

Judy

ronald ferguson wrote

I may be misunderstanding you here, but I cannot see the difference
between clicking a tab at the top of the clip board and bringing up a
new census by clicking the Load button.

Should you wish you could save each of the 5 census (or whatever) and
just load the appropriate one as required.

I think you are misunderstanding her because I agree with her exactly
and would quote the same example!

What we would wish to do is find a family on a Census, create that
Source and add it to the Clipboard, then find the family on another
Census, create that Source and add that second one to the Clipboard.
Then be able to choose, for the various family members, whether to paste
from the Clipboard the first Source, the second Source or both Sources.

Here is a scenario I often have: I find someone on a Census and he has
a wife and child with him who I haven't found before. I then look up
his marriage on FreeBMD and the birth of the child. I might also look up
the wife's birth and/or look for the wife on an earlier Census. As I am
entering all this new information I want to quote the Census as a Source
for an Event for all 3, I want to quote the FreeBMD marriage as a Source
for the wife's name and for the Marriage as an event, I want to quote
the FreeBMD birth as a Source for the wife's name and her date of birth
and I also want to quote the Census as a Source for her name and
date/place of birth.

It would be so useful to have all those Sources on the Clipboard and
pick and choose various combinations to cite as I move through the
family.
--
Jenny M Benson

Jenny,

But why can you not save all of these - you can save up to 10 sources - and
load them in as and when required? This is the way I work when I am doing
something such as you describe and it works pretty well. Maybe marginally
longer than clicking only one tab. but I'm afraid I do do not see a major
difficulty.

Yes please Susan, you run it. You are far more familiar with the best
setup.
What I had changed recently when we collected a few Spam messages was that
anyone new who subscribed, had to have their messages (when or if sent)
checked ie moderated (approved) before the message could be put up on the
list. This could continue until we decided that they should be
un-moderated.
All the spam that we have had so far has come from people who have
subscribed and then posted their messages. As far as I know, spam (or
anything else) cannot be listed unless the person has subscribed to the
mailing list. - a Yahoo rule?
That meant messages were checked, not subscribers. If they were spam then
the subscriber was banned before the message is put up on the list. We may
be aware of most people who subscribe but not always and I am not sure how
you would check them. But I bow to your superior experience.

I guess you will have to go in and re-edit the procedure.

Hi Judy,

I thought that it had been set up so that we had to
approve new members before they were "joined".

From what you say that sounds different to the above

Spam is usually sent to Mailing Lists from Non-subscribers, at least that
is what happens on my other lists that I run, I can then get them deleted
BEFORE they get to the subscribers. I will have a look into Yahoo in the
next few weeks.

I think the list should only be run by one of us, as it can get a bit
difficult if we both have fingers in the pie - so to speak.

I usually do not reply to people who ignore the NO HTML rule of this mailing
list. In this case I
will give you a hint. At the bottom of each email are four links. One of
them is:

Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp.

Use it. The answer is there if you read the page and try and find it.

[LegacyUG] Error Message

2007-09-10 Thread Judy Hampton
 Error getting next deleted MRIN.

Error 3021: No current record.

Would you like to TRY IT AGAIN?

I get this message when I try to add a new person. I am unsure why or why
to click. If I click quit it quits the program if I click no or yes it
doesn't go away so I can't add a new person. Sometimes if I click yes and
no several times it goes away and lets me add a new person. But it was
doing this before when I was using a external hard drive and at some point
it wouldn't let me access my data. I am starting other from scratch and
loading the individuals in again using an external hard drive but the
program is on this external drive. I am hoping this will solve the program
but when the message starting appearing, I am worried the same thing may
happen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Judy Hampton

Re: [LegacyUG] County without city

2007-08-15 Thread Judy

Dee~

Most (but not all) US counties are broken down into Townships, and I have
found this designation useful for earlier, more rural designations, when
locations are often designated "between telegraph poles". Millcreek
Township, Hamilton County, Ohio is a good example from early census records.
Today it is simply Cincinnati.
