If you want it for the Made with Macromedia program, and you are using

MX 2004, then you won't need it: that's been discontinued for MX 2004

projects, woohoo! Otherwise, if you need it for the MWM program with
an older version of Director, search the Macromedia site for "Made with

Macromedia."

If this is an online application you might be happiest getting
someone to write you a CGI that can handle a post call, and then do a
postNetText to that CGI.

Else you can try something like:

   goToNetPage ( "mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]"; )

But that would not work on my system since I do not have a channel
connecting my HTML browser with my email client.

The enxt step is to get an Xtra that does email, and I believe you'll
need DirectEMail for that. Look over the list of products at
http://www.updatestage.com/products to get the one that suits you
best.

name, state, city, zip, your e-mail and when you press the submit
button the information in the cast (name, state...) go to the e-mail
address that was asign to the submit button. How do I do this. I'm

Re: Backspacing or empty a text line

2002-06-12 Thread Fred Westermeyer

This is a job that you have to love to do it.

Here is the code that I think is having the problem.

property pMem, pText

on beginSprite me
  pText = " "
  pMem = sprite(me.SpriteNum).member
  pMem.text = pText

end beginSprite

on acceptInput me, newCharacter
  pText = pText & newCharcater
  pMem.text = pText

end acceptInput

If I change out

on acceptInput me, newCharacter
  pText = newCharcater
  pMem.text = pText

end acceptInput

This will work but on one character only. What am I doing wrong?
or have I been looking at it to long and cann't see what it is?

Well, you're working with the right engine then. ;)

If you have not already done so, search your Lingo code to see if
there is any script, any place in your program, that is modifying
text in anything at all.

If there is, check that code to see if it's trying to plug some value
back into the sprite you're trying to clear.

It might be best to start with a global search for the term "text"
inside all your Lingo scripts, because there's no way I know of for
text to simply begin popping into sprites without some kind of
command someplace telling it to do so...

Wow, this is a corker. Something someplace is modifying that sprite
or cast member somehow -- it's mostly a question of what, where and
how. And finding it's the fun part. :\

I'm guessing you have a behavior someplace that is storing previously
typed text in a variable, and that text is what's reappearing in the
text item on the Stage.

There's no reason it should, since clearEntry is not a Lingo keyword,
and it would not appear that you've created a ClearEntry handler
anyplace to process the command.

It might be easiest to do this as a behavior attached to your sprite:

   on keyUp me
 if the key = BACKSPACE then
   sprite(me.spriteNum).member.text = ""
 else
   pass
 end if
   END keyUp

Backspacing or empty a text line

2002-06-11 Thread Fred Westermeyer

Hi all,

I'm working in D8.5 windows. I need to make a backspace button or empty
a text line.

I did the following I made two button one for each:

on mouseup
  set the text of member "entry-street" to EMPTY
end

this works fine but when I go back to retype something new in that text
the old text comes back in, what did I do wrong here.

then I tred Backspace

on keyDown
  if the key = BACKSPACE then clearEntry
  stopEvent
end keyDown

this does not work at all.

Thats pretty vague.
The first thing is to look at the system and database the hotel uses
now and
decide weither or not you can get director to talk to it.

The standard IBM answer--it depends.

@ is the modern equivalent of "the moviePath," i.e., the location of
your current movie. So, if the movie you're navigating to is in a
folder
below your current movie, you can do "@:movie:movie1" or
"@\movie\movie1". Notice you don't use the Windows-style drive ":"
drive
designator.

I do either, depending on where the movie is. Often, I fall back on
old
habits, and use the old-style path separator, especially if I'm
working
on legacy code.

Cordially,

Kerry Thompson

I had the same thing too, when I was working with Win 2000 Pro. I made a

so I when back and made the 2000 Pro to Win 98, now the program and
system run fine and been up for 8 month 24 hours a day.

Hi Debi,

I might not have the solution toyour problem, and maybe mine is
comp[letely unrelated to it, but there I go:

My workstation also plays back sound AND video files at double speed,
it also is a Pentium 4 processor and Windows 2000 professional.
So maybe there is a more general problem.
Though I have not done any troubleshooting yet as I use it for coding
only so I am not so concerned about how the sound/ video play back...

Good luck, maybe you can post a quick pointer here as to what the
problem was should you be able to fix it..

Many thanks, and best regards,
nik

RE: Tracking a Button

2002-03-19 Thread Fred Westermeyer

I look up both getPref and setPref I do not have the files save as a
shockwave.

I have a InfoCenter here at the casino that players can go to and get
information about our casino. This program is broken down in the 12
sections. On the main screen I have 12 buttons each button going to that
section of information, what I would like to do is track each button.
That was I can see which is being used and which section is not so I can
update the section that is not being used. And pass to my boss how many
people our using the InfoCenter.
