Re: Grip -- Problem solved
Thank you all for your responses. Problem is now solved. What eventually worked in my case was, however,a little different from was suggested. I had to deleted the entire contents of the /tmp, and then run: chmod 1777 /tmp chmod 1777 /dev/cdrom I worked! Thanks again. IM On Fri, 2002-03-22 at 06:45, David A. Tried and here's what I got: esd: Failed to fix mode of /tmp/.esd to 1777. Try -trust to force esd to start. esd: Esound sound daemon unable to create unix domain socket: The socket is not accessible by esd. Exiting... Practically the same message as before. Grip
Hi all: I have used Grip for quite a while without a hitch. However, after some recent file updates using Ximian Red Carpet (which I suspect must be the reason), I can only use Grip when I log in as root. Would someone tell me what file permissions, etc, need editing? I use Suse 7.3 with both KDE 2.2.2 and the latest version of Ximian Gnome. I have looked at /media and /dev files and noticed no apparent problem.
