Amen to that brother, my fingers twitch in a Pine keystroke sorta way.
And gnome-term is not an acceptible substitue for xterm.

Make that "I didn't need Sylpheed's GUI as badly as I thought I did."

No argument here. I like X, I just didn't need the GUI for my mail
client. My finger habits proved too hard to break. X is a great platform
for running a dozen xterms. ;-)

What I principally use the GUI for is to run multiple xterms. Makes
cuting and pasting between windows (usually different systems) a breeze.

Have you considered *uninstalling* mozilla, if it annoys you so?
Uninstall mozilla, install Netscape.

What do you mean by mozilla "won't allow [you] to access netscape the e-mail
account"? I would find it highly annoying that I could access my mail account
via only *one* program. E-mail should be e-mail and be retrievable by any
e-mail client. Netscpae/AOL, however, feels differently.

Mozilla, FWIW, is *better* at blocking pop-up adds than Netscape. And many
users of Mozilla are just as frustrated by Netscape/AOL crippling Mozilla and
calling it Netscape 7. Take a look at Phoenix,
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/phoenix/
It's a browser only project started by Mozilla developers who were frustrated
by the direction of Mozilla developement.

Tim

Can't comment on the email issue with Mozilla (I have been using
evolution for the last year or so), BUT SuSE 8.0 does come with
Netscape. It has been a while since I loaded the distro, so from memory
you probably need to look in the "pay" section for Netscape. Just
checked on this computer and the version loaded is 6.2.1 from the SuSE
DVD. Appears that I did not finish setting up Netscape because I
switched to Mozilla.

As of version 8.0, Mozilla is the default browser for SuSE. Speaking of
pop-ups, they can be turned off with Mozilla/Galeon but not with
Netscape.

To get the latest Mozilla compiled specifically for SuSE go to:
www.usr-local-bin.org The maintainer at that site does a pretty good
job of keeping the gnome type apps (moz, galeon, evolution) current for
SuSE users.

Kurt, for once, you're both right and right.

I've run Sylpheed since somewhere around 4.0 (maybe earlier). I'm now
running 8.6. The problems he's experiencing (holes, etc.,) were fixed a
_long_ time ago in Sylpheed, so he's either running a _very_ old version
of Sylpheed, or one compiled without any of the support libraries for
graphics, etc. I'd say both are his problem. My Sylpheed (compiled with

It doesn't have a built in mail program like messenger, it won't allow

OK, but don't tell that to the Mozilla mail that i'm using to send this.

Huh? I don't even understand what you're saying here. That sentence
sounds like 6 different thoughts rolled into one.

prefer Netscape 7.0 (personnel preference) but when I try to download

when I access Netscape Mozilla pops up. I don't like pop ads or programs
