Yeah, look at the percentage. Quick Look Helper takes a lot of juice, which
is why I always try to stop it, or hte fan will never shut off.

2010-06-07 Thread Rob Lambert
Check your Activity Monitor. I'm having the same consistent running issue
with a process called Quick Look Helper, which runs at over 100% of the
processor's capacity. I close out this process, and it cools the system down
within a minute or two.

Re: my mac fan runs and won't quit when I run some apps

2010-06-07 Thread Maxwell Ivey Jr.
Ok, something i used to do before we cleaned mine, shut down the unit.
let the ram and processor clear out. then restart it and see if the
mail program causes the fan to run again. One of the good things and
bad things about a mac is you don't have to shut them down as often.
I have gone several days at a time with just shutting the lid when I
didn't want it running. maybe restarting it will help your problem.
good luck, Max

lol! your speaking program gor your own name wrong. No it strts when I run mail
and only mail and or only when i run my ftp client but not when I run skype,
python, clisk, and nambu. I can quit mail but the fan can sit there and run all
day and it has so I dunno what's going on. this only started this weekend.

Hello but I think that this is just simply processor load, what do I mean by
that one trying to get at here is that your computer based on how many
applications you have running has to turn on the fan basically because the
processors having to crunch a lot of numbers.
When it does this in of course gets hot for instance and/or generates heat thus
causing her friend turn on which his wives on constantly. I guess I'd say that
this is natural. If you really think there is a problem I think there are some
system load tools out there, but I don't know how accessible they really are.
Hope this helps worries.
