Check your Activity Monitor. I'm having the same consistent running issue with a process called Quick Look Helper, which runs at over 100% of the processor's capacity. I close out this process, and it cools the system down within a minute or two. Ok, something i used to do before we cleaned mine, shut down the unit. let the ram and processor clear out. then restart it and see if the mail program causes the fan to run again. One of the good things and bad things about a mac is you don't have to shut them down as often. Re: my mac fan runs and won't quit when I run some apps
Oh transmit never used to cause that. the problem I think started when I mounted an ftp site to disk and tried to coppy a 7 gig folder over. since then it has not quit and I've rebooted and it will be fine until I start mail and or transmit and keep running even with them clossed but it will not do this if I am running skype, pythin, clisk and nambu at the same time. Odd eh? Now the only thing I can see here is all of my folders now are on my imap server but I don't see that beeing the issue. Take care. Re: my mac fan runs and won't quit when I run some apps
lol! your speaking program gor your own name wrong. No it strts when I run mail and only mail and or only when i run my ftp client but not when I run skype, python, clisk, and nambu. I can quit mail but the fan can sit there and run all day and it has so I dunno what's going on. this only started this weekend. Re: my mac fan runs and won't quit when I run some apps
Hello but I think that this is just simply processor load, what do I mean by that one trying to get at here is that your computer based on how many applications you have running has to turn on the fan basically because the processors having to crunch a lot of numbers. When it does this in of course gets hot for instance and/or generates heat thus causing her friend turn on which his wives on constantly. I guess I'd say that this is natural. If you really think there is a problem I think there are some system load tools out there, but I don't know how accessible they really are. Hope this helps worries.
