MD: MZ-R70 pix in Sony Style
Just to let you guys know, the new issue of Sony Style (asian singer Coco Lee) has pictures of the new MZ-R70, which is in silver and blue. It looks to be just larger than the R90, and holds one AA (NC-WMAA). The display window goes across the top, and is the shape of the line display on most Sony MD remotes. In fact, the display looks almost just like the display on the remote. It looks like the play, stop, track up and down buttons are arrange in a circle, with the pause button and volume buttons right next to the circle which is on the bottom right of the face. REC slider on the top face, next to the END SEARCH button (argh), and 3 or 4 buttons above it. There is a picture of the blue R90, but on the actual picture of the unit, it says "MZ-R99", and has a different display. The display shows the track number AND track time, as well as the text bar on top. The rest of the display is normal... nice to note that the picture of the unit has no eject slider on it, so this is probably just a mock-up. Let the rumors of a new Sony recorder (R99) begin... ^_^ --Brian Youn --The University of Texas at Austin Electrical and Computer Engineering, 4th year - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Well, AOL 5.0 has been known to conflict with virtually everything on earth apart from itself. In fact, tech support departments regularly tell users to call AOL tech support to teach them how to downgrade themselves to 4.0 (which does not conflict with as much stuff...)! No joke. I would seriously suggest you call up AOL and tell them to help you downgrade to 4.0. That could help. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Try going into the program that comes up when you insert the CD, and turn off auto play when CD is inserted. MD: which units have END SEARCH
Dave Helgerson asked, | Which sony models have this? Is it portables only? Is it all of the | portables? Sony portables have it. All Sony portables have it. Only Sony portables have it. Any other MD recorder -- if it is not portable, or not Sony, or neither -- does not have it and will put new recorded material into open space by default. Some allow overwriting if you go to the extra trouble of first positioning the read at the start of the area to be overwritten (or perhaps pausing there). Others do not support overwriting at all and require you to record, delete, and resequence (or delete, record, and resequence if there isn't enough space on the disc until you delete the unwanted material). - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi guys, if any of you can help me I'd be eternally grateful! My CD-RW drive has decided every CD I insert is an audio CD. This is fine if it is an audio CD, file manager lists eg. It can't play it cos no audio tracks are actually on the disc. I've been on to Creative Labs tech support and after flashing the CD-RW drive bios, the motherboard bios and replacing more drivers with the latest versions on the net they decided to replace it. Just add the ability to store > MP3's on the blank MD's > with players that will decode them! *I* have a problem with it! I can't afford to switch mediums every couple of years. I have just invested in Minidisc, which, along with my CD collection, is quite sufficient, thank you. Now if the rest of the world wants to go off and enjoy MP3, or next year's big fad, fine. I have neither the need, nor the disposable income, to follow along. Just leave me sufficient blank media and harware for when I need to replace or upgrade and I'll be happy. But I am sick of being manipulated by these damn companies - and will not buy into something that I don't need. Take away the support for MD, and I will guarantee that it will be the last new medium into which I buy. Best regards to all, James __ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! For anyone doing live recording, instead of just copying previously recorded material, it is a major flaw. You can record the most wonderful performance, go back and play 30 seconds of it it just to see if you have it, and if you forget to press END SEARCH, you will destroy it when you start recording again. The same thing happens if you have recorded 20 minutes on a minidisc, and you want to add more to it. If you forget to press END SEARCH, your previous material is scrap. THe decks don't work that way, so it is easy to forget going from a deck to a portable. > > and for not listening, when, in fact, they may be doing their best to make > our views known, but being drowned out by other, more fiscally significant > voices. > > I say to Sony - well done for a useful format and some excellent products - > just don't rest on your laurels. > > On (2) I have to agree, they don't seem to have a clue. I don't know if Sony is arrogant. I suspect it just suffers from the ills of any big company, massive inertia & difficulty in understanding the viewpoint of the end-user.
