It's almost impossible without killing
a good amount of frequencies. But
you can use standard wave editing
software to do it. I'm sure there's a
karaoke style proggie out there.

Re: MD: Beeps and more...

2000-06-05 Thread Jimmy and Johnny need to stop eating worlds and sweeping legs

Yeah, all I needed was a stereo miniplug to two quarter inch mono plugs. it was
all good. The radio shack shielded gold plug cost me $7.

The quality of the cables does make a difference in some cases. Monster cable
is waaay expensive. I sing for a band and I went through two $20 microphone cords
with in a month during performances. Since they were lifetime guaranteed, I got
em replaced free, but I do a lot of microphone tricks involving spinning and
throwing and catching the mic so it was time to find a new cord. I got a Monster
Cable mic cord for $50 and I could probably tow a car with it and it would still
work. It's shielded to keep extra noise out and sounds great.

The input on the 4-track is mono. All the outputs on the computer are stereo.

I'm using a stereo cable. I think Matthew Wall nailed it on the head when he
said it wasn't grounded. I'm probably gonna blow $200 on Sound Blaster Live
and a nice patch bay.

Tascam 564 4-track.

MD: noiseNoiseNOISE

2000-06-01 Thread Jimmy and Johnny need to stop eating worlds and sweeping legs

So, I have a MD 4 track that I'm using
to record a signal from my computer.

When I attach a cable to the computer,
it's noisy as all get out. Kinda like if you
touch a guitar cable that plugged into an
amp and the other side isn't attached to
anything.

I'm using a stereo miniplug in the line out.
The other end is a 1/4" stereo going into
the mixer section on the 4trk.

I'm thinking it's cause I'm using a stereo
plug into a mono input and something
isn't grounded right- but I just don't know.

ANYONE?
i'mveryfrustrated.

MD: speed up problems?

2000-05-26 Thread Jimmy and Johnny need to stop eating worlds and sweeping legs

I have a sony je510 and sony mz-e44 portable player.
Tonight while playing some punk rock
in my e44 the song was sped up super fast.
I was kinda into it! but that's kinda messed up.
It hasn't really touched my je510 (which is
victim to the auto turn on bug PLUS a loud
weird clicking noise) in a while, so I don't know
what could've caused it at all.

Anyone?

To actually save the file, the file has to be savable.
That sounds weird...
Whoever is streaming the audio makes the decision
to make it able to save or not. Usually you can't.

Re: MD: Yamaha MD Data mixers

2000-05-07 Thread Jimmy and Johnny need to stop eating worlds and sweeping legs

I'm online bidding for a Tascam 564.
It's a first generation MD 4-track, older
than the Yamaha 4 and 8tracks, BUT the
features on the Tascam are *so* beyond any
of the Yamaha md 4tracks.
Tascam 564 has 4xlr inputs, the comparable
yamaha 4trks have at most, 2. The sad thing
is that yamaha makes one with no xlr ins at all.
The bad thing about the 564 is that there's a
skipping problem when it records, but if ya send it
to the factory, they'll fix it(for free I think).

Aren't data disks like, $10 or $15?

peace,
MCSqUiShYToOsHy.
