I just purchased the sharp st880. Does anyone know if it would be ok to plug
into an U.S. outlet or would I have to use a converter?

You need a deck with digital out and a sound card with digital in. Once you
get the files on to your hard drive they can be converted into any type of
 sound file.

There are probably software programs that will allow you to to convert on the
fly as you are transferring the files to your computer.

MD: MD models

2001-07-23 Thread SHiaOjAy

Does anyone know the sound quality for the following models as far as volume
is concerned? I know from previous experience that certain players do not
play music loud enough. (i.e. you can't listen to your music on a plane
because the plane's engine is louder than your player will play your music.)
Also, does anyone know which models come with a backlit remote and which ones
don't? THanks for your help!
JVC XM-PX70
Sharp ST-77
Sharp ST-70
Sony MZ-E900
Kenwood DMC-M55

Oh yea, and if anyone knows of any quirks these models have that might annoy
consumers please mention them. THanks!

MD: MD opinion

2001-07-22 Thread SHiaOjAy

Can you help me decide what type of MD player I should purchase? I've gone
through 2 Sony MD players so far. THe first one was a MZ-R30 or 33 (I can't
remember, but it was a big one) and it broke when i dropped it on the floor
twice. The second one was a MZ-R55 and the battery doesn't recharge anymore.
I'm looking at Panasonics and Sharps right now. I don't think I want to
purchase another Sony after my bad experiences with them. The following are
some basic characteristics I'm looking for in the walkman:

-Must have MDLP playing ability
-Panasonic or SHarp (although if there is another brand that has the walkman
with the characteristics I'm looking for, I may change my mind)
-durabilty (must not break after a few drops)
-sound (must have decent volume, the MZR55 I have does nto play music loud
enough)
-size (small, the thinner and ligheter the better)
-backlit remote
-decent amount of battery life (preferably at least 10 hours)
-doesn't matter if it has recording ability (although recording ability would
be nice)
-one button MD eject ( i think only panasonic has this feature but I could be
wrong. )--this is not a necessary quality I'm looking for but it's an added
plus of the walkman has this feature
-price: $250 or less...i'm planning to have a friend purchase this walkman in
Japan...so hopefully it'll be cheaper there

Well please email me with any words of wisdom you may have for my situation.
Thanks!

MD: MD recording link

I have a Victor stereo model UX-A70MD. I want to record from my computer
(sony xg28) on to a MD using the stereo. Does anyone know what kind of link
I need to purchase so that I can do this? Thanks.
