I'm not sure where the best place to buy is for the cheapest price. I got my camera from Ritz (definitely NOT cheap) I would look at buy.com and mobshop.com You can usually find pretty good deals there. As for the community, I haven't found a mailing list, but if you are into newsgroups check out rec.photo.digital. It's not quite the same "community" feel I think you get from this list, but it's a good bunch of people with a lot of information to share.
