I see Buy.com has 16 MB Smartmedia for $28/89 US right now, and 32 MB
for $63.95. They did have 8 MB cards for $12.95.

Well, with the charger and rechargeable battery, it's not so bad a deal.

Mine came with an 8MB card, as well...then I also bought a 16 to go along
with it.

I got it about 4 months ago. It came with an 8 megabyte memory card,
rechargable batteries and a charger. Most other places were selling
them for $299 plus shipping, so I think I got a pretty good deal. I
think it originally sold witha 4 meg card and with out the rechargable
batteries.

I'm not sure where the best place to buy is for the cheapest price. I got
my camera from Ritz (definitely NOT cheap)

I would look at buy.com and mobshop.com You can usually find pretty
good deals there.

As for the community, I haven't found a mailing list, but if you are
into newsgroups check out rec.photo.digital. It's not quite the same
"community" feel I think you get from this list, but it's a good
bunch of people with a lot of information to share. If your friend dosn't
have news access on his isp, send him to www.deja.com or www.remarq.com
it's web browser based, and both have pretty good search capabilities.
for searching not much beats deja.com :)

Very nice camera...I have one, myself...but if you just recently
bought it for that price (ie, in the last month or so), you paid too
much. Unfortunately, I paid $299 for the same camera a year ago.

2000-05-21 Thread Lynch, Jason JD

Sorry everyone for the off topic post...

My friend is wanting to buy a digital camera (the type with floppy disk storage),
anyway with the low prices available for buying MD on the web (minidisco, minidiscweb,
etc etc) does anyone know any good places to buy digital cameras on the net for
cheaper prices? also, is there any digital camera community similar to the MD
community?

THanks for any info you can provide.
Cheers,
Jason
