I looked at the web site and the product seems pretty sick.  There's also a
analog model. I was just wondering what benefits do I get using that device?
Since the sound card already has analog out.

There's also one coming out from ThunderWire 
 that looks promising. And most importantly, 
it isn't Windows only.  ;-)

My understanding is that Voquette is currently working on a USB to S/PDIF 
counterpart to its analog unit, now.

Yes, look at xitels webpage at www.xitel.com they have a new model which
has optical out. The one with the headphone jack is the analog unit.

In a week I will be getting my mandatory college laptop, complete with a 
DVD player.  I am curious as to if there is a way for me to outfit my laptop
