Ive also seen this problem b4 on not so old CDROM drives. Currently. With some CD Burning software it states that if the CD player you are going to use to play an Audio CD DOES NOT support CD text and you Burn a CD on CD-R or CD-RW with the CD text support option turned on then it might not play. My Girlfriends sony portable CD player is only a year old and will not play any CD-R's I burn for her. Yet they play fine on every other deck or even those really cheap players for 30/40 quid. It worries me a little as in my spare time I write a music/fashion magazine which I intend to feature a compilation on MD and or CD (CD-R). I dont want poeple coming back to me with the CD telling me it does not play on their CD player. Try telling them its not the media after buying my magazine. * "J. Coon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> on Tue, 02 Jan 2001 | CDR or CDRW? some computer CD drives won'''t even play CDRW, but they | play CDR ok. I said CD-RW. The problem with CD-R in DVD-Video decks is that the media is invisible to the read lasers used in DVD-Video playback mechanisms. DVD-Video decks that can read CD-R media have a second laser mechanism just for this purpose. CD-RW requires more power than CD-R to read. Many portable CD players cannot read CD-RW. Same goes for some very old, first generation CD-ROM drives, and apparantly a small number of DVD-Video decks. Again, as I said, the fault is the deck, not the media. -- Rat <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>\ If Happy Fun Ball begins to smoke, get Minion of Nathan - Nathan says Hi! \ away immediately. My General Electrics DVD player cannot read audio CDs I burn onto CD-RW. There are DVD burners available, but they run in the neighborhood of about 5000$ each, and that's not counting the expensive and processor-intensive software that you have to use to compress movies onto DVDs. ...but that's for another forum altogether... - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Some DVDs are marketed as "CD-R ready" or boast "dual-discrete pickup". Don't ask me what DDP is, but I know that it allows you to read burnt CDs.
