Nope, that doesn't please me.

That wasn't clear in your original message. It makes a big difference.
I am sure no one is happy that your luggage got tangled up in the
routing. I had that happen to me once ...not fun... specially since it
was on the trip out, not the return flight.

In response to many responses about my actions, I would like to say that the
chief flight attendants okayed my use of the MD player during the flights
(ie after takeoff and before landing). I don't know where people got the
idea I didn't ask permission to use my player. I know I didn't state that I
did ask, but for everyone to assume I didn't ask and to respond in the way
that they did ('didn't crash today so I'll never crash' etc.) surprised me.
I don't take offence at anything that has been or ever will be said on
mailing lists so the accusations dont bother me (in case anyone cared).

BTW I haven't said its ok to use MDs on all flights, just on the three
aircraft I mentioned.

This begs the question, why can't the plane's kit ignore a trivial amount of
interference ? Surely a primary development criterion should be high
immunity ? Otherwise your terrorist can smuggle on a harmless MD with timer
to bring a plane down. If a little MD can cause a problem, what the hell
happens when you get a lighting strike, or some other BIG interference ?

Stupid person, apart from commercial reasons if they tell you do
something on the plane it's for your own good

Okey, just 'cos your plane didn't fall out of the sky isn't really any
evidence... although I know the chances are tiny, I still have to
point this out. It could depend on your proximity to vital devices
(all be it most devices on a plane are critical).

Also, you don't know what happened on the flight deck, the piolets may
have had to make several minor course corrections and you would never
have known it. I think this came up last time that navigation could be
curropted or misread 'cos of RF interference.

But on the otherhand, we all know that some companies use it to make
you use their equipment... On another hand (I'm no lawyer or sure)
isn't there a law saying that you should/must do what the cabin crew
say or you can be arrested when landing. So in effect your commiting a
criminal action. (Bahh! Since when I have I cared for *minor* laws ;).

Okey, that's all I have to say for now ;).

Hmm,

I drove my car this morning and I didn't have any accident

Still accidents happen!

Somebody I know doesn't care if he's drunk or sober when driving. He never
had an accident.

I can come up with several more examples of 'nothing happened' thus it must
be safe! It's just plain crazy to say that. Drinking before driving increases
the risk for an accident. Using your CD/MD player/recorder while the cabin
crew told you not too, is exactly the same. You increase the risk. If it only
kills you, it's fine for me, but chances are that I'm in the same plane. And
I've got a girl-friend and a cat to take car of!

Cheers,

umm isnt it a federal offence to use any such 'devices' at almost anytime
except for the 5 mins when the captain decides to fly the plane?

This time and if it had..

In any case, I hope you didn't use it if the flight personnel had asked
people to not use them. If you did, you would be endangering the
lives of others.
