I don't think they are going to set the default to off. It would be stupid...
People would think 'hey what does this button do? Oh? I have to enable it! But
actually enabeling it makes me press more buttons! I better leave it off!'

Nah, you can't have that. Thus it ships enabled. This way the one and only,
award winning, untouchable, indestructable, premium, exlusif and sexy "End
Search" button can be kept. Face it, if they set the default to off, marketing
will say, he, what does this button do. And so they remove it! But with it, the
legend.

Cheers,
Ralph -> writing rather b*llsh*t

Finally they are starting to understand? I hope the default is end
search off. When does it come on the market? Does it have time and
date stamp?

Unless they are going to offer it in the US version, I'm surprised that
the 900 does not include a USB PC link.

Well, guess what!?! According to the new Sony
MZ-R900 lets you set whether or not it will do automatic end search!
Unfortunately, it comes set to manually use the end search, but you can
bet that it will be the first change I make after I buy one!

Woo Hoo!!!

It seems that nothing can get this through to the arrogant Sony Corp.
The dismal response to our end search petition shows just how much they
care...
Vote with your wallet - buy a Sharp or something, anything but Sony and
you will not have any more end-search problems.
I know it's sometimes difficult to take the step *not* to buy Sony, I am
(or was) not a big enthusiast of Sharp products but my 701 has worked
like a charm - no problems (and no end search!) in 3.5yrs...
