Oops ... I saw Jim Coon's and Rick Woudenberg's responses but had missed

Thanks.  I figured it would be all right.  My problem with optical is that
the path is around corners and through doorways, and the cable could too
easily get kinked or squeezed.

It shouldn't be a problem.  Get the TV lead in stuff, and maybe look for a
better quality.. compare losses if you can and get the one that has the least
loss.
