Hi everyone.

I have been on this list for a pretty long time but in the last few
months I have started to receive random 'confirm unsubscribe'
messages.. They always seem to originate from a Roadrunner IP (I
have not thoroughly tested that hypothesis). I have no accounts on or
near roadrunner, so I doubt I am inadvertantly kicking these off,
which was my first theory.

Is anyone else suffering from this or is it just me?

Me neither. I was interested to learn that there are noticeable energy savings
associated with the Daylight Savings time change. Who'd a thunk it?

Re: NFS database

2007-07-06 Thread Douglas Araujo

Thanks for the help Michael,

The data directory is really configured to /var/lib/mysql, and the
database name is area2.

I'm mounting the subdirectory of the database.

When I mount the nfs file system I don't get any error.

Thanks,

Yeah, you are.

http://worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/namerica/usstates/timezone.htm

One other thought comes to mind. Is there a guarantee that a timezone can't
split a zipcode?

In other words, is the mapping from zipcode->timezone guaranteed to exist in
all cases?

I remember a friend in Tennessee who would take her children to school (10
miles away) and the school was in a different timezone than her home, so it
got very confusing what time the kids had to be up and to bed and all that.

In rural areas where the zipcodes can be rather large, I'm just wondering if
there is any guarantee that a zipcode can't span two timzones.

Here is a sample of the file

It is a fixed format so I could probably just write a script that parses the

Or write a script that adds a comma to the correct location.

Does anyone have any suggestions or already have something that does this?

Import a text file

2007-07-06 Thread Scott Swaim
I have a text file that is in the Panasonic DBS format. It is a log file
that comes from my phone system. I have a program that monitors the serial
port and write the input to a file. I have no control over the format of
the file. I would like to on a nightly basis shut down the logging program
and then upload this file to Mysql. What I don't know how to do is to have
the file split into the correct fields.

Here is a sample of the file

MO 07/03 13:58:00 00:00:34 103 1817295978204
MO 07/03 13:58:00 00:00:24 103 8175177982 05
MO 07/03 13:59:00 00:00:23 103 8175177982 04
MO 07/03 13:53:00 00:07:25 105 18004445445000 06
MI 07/03 14:00:00 00:01:55 100 8177740741 01

It is a fixed format so I could probably just write a script that parses the
program
Or write a script that adds a comma to the correct location.

Does anyone have any suggestions or already have something that does this?

Thanks in Advanced

off-topic unsubscribe concern

2007-07-06 Thread Michael Dykman

Hi everyone.

I have been on this list for a pretty long time but in the last few
months I have started to receive random 'confirm unsubscribe'
messages..They always seem to originate from a Roadrunner IP (I
have not thoroughly tested that hypothesis). I have no accounts on or
near roadrunner, so I doubt I am inadvertantly kicking these off,
which was my first theory.

Is anyone else suffering from this or is it just me?

My understanding is that U.S. zipcodes have their first two digits based on

Since most of the time zone boundaries seem to fall on state boundaries, a
simple mapping from the first two digits to the time zone might get you most

You may be able to call a web service from your PHP code to find this out.

Again, I have no light-bulb on this but let's try a few things.

if you do
$ ls -ld /var/lib/mysql/area2
$ ls -ld /var/lib/mysql/area2/*

on your mySQL host, what are the permissions and ownership of the
files? These can get a little tricky under NFS as th on-disk file
will store the owner's UID. That UID may have different meaning on
the file host as opposed to the SQL host if the users and groups are
not synchronized between those hosts.

bin-log position.

2007-07-06 Thread Ananda Kumar

Hi All,
We have setup master/slave replication in our production site.
I took a mysqldump from slave using this command

/usr/bin/mysqldump --user=andale -h prod -p abc --opt --all-databases
--master-data=2 --flush-privileges --single-transaction > reports.dump

When i checked reports.dump, it showing as

-- CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_LOG_FILE='mysql-bin.03', MASTER_LOG_POS=311;

But before i started the mysqldump, I did the below on slave db.

show slave status\G
Master_Log_File: mysql-bin.29
Read_Master_Log_Pos: 106683511

Relay_Log_File: relay-log.039071

Relay_Log_Pos: 106683648

Relay_Master_Log_File: mysql-bin.29

Slave_IO_Running: Yes

Slave_SQL_Running: Yes

As see in the mysqldump is saying to start recovery from bin-log file "'
mysql-bin.03'" and position="MASTER_LOG_POS=311",

but the current master bin-log and postion as seen from above is different.
So, if restore the dump to a new machine and apply bin-logs at regulare
interval, from which bin-log should i start and from which position.

Please help,
