WHY do I see this error when restoring my backup db : " InnoDB: Your database may be corrupt or you may have copied the InnoDB tablespace but not the InnoDB log files. " GOAL: Trying to restore mysql backup on different host using InnoDB backup that copes the backed up files to a files sever where I pulle them down to the new host I place all the MySQL datafiles and InnoDB log files in the same directory and all paths in the my.cnf files are pointing here upon the startup of the mysqld and the following crach recover that the Innodb do I get tons of this errors [see below] why? I do have the two InnoDB log files - so why does it complain that my DB 'may' be corrupt - I don't like this message. Event tried with seting innodb_force_recovery = 4 but I still get the error upon startup - why? It doesn't look like a clean startup to me 090206 14:56:34 InnoDB: Error: page 27060 log sequence number 4 1755884236 InnoDB: is in the future! Current system log sequence number 4 1682795020. Re: MySQL 5.1.31 PostInstall Script Error
Hi, I just try to guess because you don't post much information about your platform. My impression is that you are using the wrong binaries, probably after the common copy procedure of the solaris package manager the post installation script is the first package-related program. From what I see here you are using a Solaris 8 on Sparc 64bit Cpu, is it right? Claudio bunti wrote: Hi I am doing investigation to determine whether we can use MySQL in our project. Solid State Drives and mySQL / RDBMS?
While SSD's (Solid State Disks) have traditionally not been the best hardware to use for rewrite-intensive operations like databases, over the last few months, some leading Linux kernel engineers have been raving about next generation Intel SSD's that are close to 20x faster than the fastest disk drives for random access. If robust enough, these next generation SSD's may greatly improve relational database performance. Is anyone using SSD drives currently and can share their experiences? Also, even if they are currently poor for writing, they would make a fantastic slave drive for mega-fast access I would think right? Our current DB is about 80GB and over 1/2 billion rows in each of two of the tables. Reports are starting to take as long as 20 seconds to generate. ...and don't get me started on export/import (it can take DAYS to import).
non-relational engine for mySQL?
When our database reaches the 10-100TB range, we may need to consider non-relational databases. Relational databases like MySQL tend to heavily rely on random access, which is governed by the slow disk seek rates. On the other hand, non-relational database pioneered by Google's Map/Reduce framework operate at much faster disk transfer rates. Open source solutions incorporating these ideas exist, such as Yahoo's Hadoop and CouchDB. Are there currently (or plans for) any mySQL engines with this type of database?

Percona Performance Conference adjacent to MySQL Conference & Expo
In case you haven't heard the news, Percona has just announced a performance conference at the same time and place as the MySQL Conference and Expo 2009. The topic is performance -- more broadly, not just MySQL.
