RE: root zone file

2002-04-26 Thread Matt Zito

I really don't want to start any discussions about the relative merits of
the ICANN vs. ORSC vs. New.net vs. anything root zones, but I feel like I
need to mention that the main zones on this page are for the ORSC root
servers, not the ICANN ones. The ICANN zone file at the bottom is the hints
file, not the root zone.

Thanks,
Matt

RE: root zone file

2002-04-26 Thread Matt Zito

The actual root zone is at:

ftp://rs.internic.net/domain/

But if you mean the GTLD zones that used to be part of the root, then:

http://www.verisign-grs.com/tld/

and if you mean just the list of the root servers, then:

"dig . ns"

should give you what you're looking for.

Thanks,
Matt

RE: UUNET instability?

2002-04-25 Thread Matt Zito

I live in that area, and its far enough from 111 8th to not cause any
serious problems, and there's no other telco or network facilities around
there, AFAIK. Most of the fiber, etc, is run along 16th street or up/down
9th ave.

Thanks,
Matt
