Yes, I can get that far with my elderly EEEPC (Linux) but in this case
as soon as I enter the details the link is broken.

This, I believe, is due to out dated security Certificates in the
EEEPC. Now that NetSurf is working OK on the Pi Zero I can risk trying
a complete install of a new Linux distribution then see what happens.

Log in to YORK Libraries

2016-02-08 Thread Bryn Evans

About two years ago the City of York Library on line system
stopped allowing me to log in from RiscOS machines, after they
had "Improved" their system. A little later Linux also failed.

I gave up trying as there was now an Android slab that did the job.

Now that NetSurf #3355 works so well on the Pi Zero I was wondering
if some kind person would look at the structure of the York page
to see if (as I fear) it has been Improved out of site, or is there
still a tinker needed to the otherwise now very responsive NS.

Go to https://exploreyork.org.uk (which seems to take about 8sec
to load a largish Welcome page) and try to get the 'Log In'
or the 'My Account' (top right) to produce a 'Log In' window.

There should be a USER entry writable and PIN one below but I never
get that far.

Thanks to anyone who will try this.

Excellant Work with release 3355

2016-02-08 Thread Bryn Evans

Just a word of thanks and praise for the developers.

I only try the latest builds now and again, but following your
push towards a new Release, I have just tried this one #3355.

It worked OK on my RiscPC RiscOS 4.02.

Having been given a Pi Zero I thought to give it a try there too.
What a difference!

Whizzed along at a fair rate of knots, just a quite acceptable two or
three second of "Loading, Processing" and the full and sometimes large
page was there. Tried on all the sites I used for "OnLine P***ing"
around for banking and insurance etc. and all worked to my
satisfaction.

So once again thank you, I can go back to using RiscOS as my main
system once more and updat the ancient EEEPC to a better system
without finding myself stranded.

Thanks for the update.

Using builds 3308 everything seems OK with and without JSript.

This is both on RiscPC, RO 4.02 and RaPi (B) RO 5.23 (Dec 20)

There is NO Pain!

One anomaly has shown up. On the RiscPC, the AMAZON Log In page is
fine, but on the RaPi the first box 'mobile or email' is limited
to showing only the last 5 characters I enter, making it difficult
to spot typos. Again this is the same for both JS on and off.

Since the arrival of the mapping App " !RiscOSM " downloads in the

the the number of hundreds to go. Adding an extra two digit space,
OR changing the Message " remaining " to " remains " would do it.

I noticed this behaviour when the Hotlist was first introduced, and

Thinking about it, there would seem to be some advantage if the

This may be a red herring, in which case I apologise in advance!

In December, when I was using NF Release Ver. 1·1
I noticed a twitch in The Register - Hardware pages -

Trying to follow a link to price comparison/price
finder for reviewed items (The EEE computer) resulted
in an endless attempt to load a page. Gave up, suspecting
another code error by El Reg (it happens)

In January I switched to using the latest(ish) test
build (currently on r3802).

Visiting similar review pages in El Reg gives the same
effect but now with a 'Bad Redirect URL' meeasge from
NS after a few seconds.

Toady's example can be found here -
http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/01/30/review_toshiba_hd_ep30/
on the lower left of the page is a Box 'Price Finder'
and at the bottem, below the editable window is the
link line 'Reg Hardware's price comparison site'

Clicking on this enters the following URL in NS status bar -
  http://theregister.pgpartner.co.uk/: Compare Prices

Note the colon : and space after uk/ above.

I trawled through the page code and found what appears to be
the appropriate line here - (not wrapped in the original)

or visit http://theregister.pgpartner.co.uk/";
title="Compare Prices">Reg Hardware's price comparison site

presumably this is bad code by El Reg? but it looks as
though other browsers may not be objecting.

Just my ½pennoth and may not be relevent to this thread.

Keep up the good work - It's appreciated.
