Oooh, I didn't know you could do that!

Seems fine on r11105: though Shift-arrow seems to have stopped doing
word-forward/word-backward cursor movement. But I assume this again is
because these are no longer 'real' desktop icons and the WIMP key
shortcuts are no longer automatically implemented

Michael, i wish I could properly tell you how much this development
means to me. All I can do is to say a very sincere Thank You.

Thanks for that, very useful.

The colours are now options. There's currently no Chocies GUI
to set them, but you can set them manually from the Choices file.

Add these lines for black on white:

gui_colour_bg_1:ff
gui_colour_fg_1:00
gui_colour_fg_2:ff

or for white on black:

gui_colour_bg_1:00
gui_colour_fg_1:ff
gui_colour_fg_2:00

Note that if we change to a treeview rendering style like
http://www.netsurf-browser.org/temp/treeview/ then the meaning
of those Choices options may change.

Visual problems of course vary. Since I now have great trouble with a
white background, the blue was an improvement. However, ideally we
might be able to choose our own; for me, white on black is best.

I mentioned it because someone here is sight compromised and there isn't
enough contrast between the text and the background.

At the moment you can't change it. It was changed when I intended to
revamp the entire look of treeviews anyway, and someone said they couldn't
see the white icons on white recently. I've not got round to changing the
treeview style because I got mired in improving the existing code first.

There's the mockup for how treeviews might look:

http://www.netsurf-browser.org/temp/treeview/

It uses NetSurf blue livery much like directory listings for file: URLs.

I'm not sure this was true: I think it depended on where the mouse ended up
relative to the active text area. If it was outside, Shift/ Ctrl/ Alt would
close the edit.

Does r11090 sort the wierd things?

If you start the edit via the menu's Selection > Edit option it can go
wrong when you press SHIFT on RISC OS.

If you start the edit with a CTRL+Click or ALT+Click on the text you want
to edit, it should behave correctly.

But use the latest build, because there have been other fixes to treeview
and textarea code since then.

Appears to be okay here r11053.

I guess my question is quite trivial... The colour.

1) How to change it?
   If not changeable...
2) How to get rid of it?

Thanks

Definitely still weird things happening here (rr11053) - but only when
the address is 'expanded'. Ditto previous version - I didn't notice
because I always did have it expanded, since I was trying to restore my
hotlist to more meaningful titles and hence wanted to see the actual
URLs before editing...

Seems OK in r11052.

John

Editing hotlist entries

2010-12-13 Thread Harriet Bazley
We can now edit the title of entries in the hotlist once again (hooray!)

However, I'm having a lot of trouble doing so, since Netsurf keeps
closing the writable icon I'm typing into and putting the cursor into
the icon below (so I end up editing the URL instead of the page title).
It seems to be happening whenever I use the Shift key (with arrow keys
or just to type capitals!)

r11015 (05 Dec 2010) - can anyone else see this behaviour?
