Look in /etc/inittab for the line:

ca::ctrlaltdel:/sbin/shutdown -t3 -r now

change "/sbin/shutdown -t3 -r now" to whatever you want ctrl+alt+del to do. I
changed mine to:

ca::ctrlaltdel:/bin/echo ctrl+alt+del disabled

No.
The enterprise kernel is also included in 8.2, you simply need to
install and boot to it rather than the standard kernel.

Basically, you are saying that I need to compile a new kernel?
When configuring the 2.4.18 kernel that comes with LM 8.2, there is an option,
something about working with high memory. Is this the option that I must enable?

The .config file in /usr/src/linux, comes with the kernel source, or is produced after
the installation of linux in my box?

Thank you

Well, one of the SNF designers was Jay Beale, and his opinion was that a
caching DNS server was a serious security risk. For a while the whole
project hung because apache couldn't resolve things (it has its own
built-in resolver) until it was decided to allow trusting the external
DNS from the ISP. DNS packets have all sorts of built-in tunnelling
dodges which is why DNS is often run from chroot jails...

I hand-tested SNF since until it was released it was a rather secretive
project. It also makes no provision for a DMZ within the firewall.
(That is, a zone of IP numbers within the firewall isolated from at
least the outcgoing rules). MNF will be replacing it some time soon. I
don't know if a DNS server will be allowed on it, but it will include
_stateful_ firewalling which means that when a packet comes in it will
be subjected to an expectedness test.

Standard internet connection sharing does set up the DNS (forwarding)
server, of course, but there is little way to make any significant
change in SNF. People who griped about the lack of this or that
feature soon found that hand-editing the usual config files did not
work... (Those are reloaded from other files). It was really meant as a
turnkey product highly configuiranle from the GUI supplied by a web
browser on one of your local machines.

/etc/inittab is the file you want to edit.

This is from a Red Hat system but I'm sure the MDK syntax is similar ...

# Trap CTRL-ALT-DELETE
ca::ctrlaltdel:/sbin/shutdown -t3 -r now

I haven't had any of the problems, specially with MCC, that a few of

so I dunno. I regularly do a few edits to fstab (for windoze mount

fine with the default 9.0beta fstab lines.

The FAQ on http://ardour.sourceforge.net/ says:
-
--Problems--
1.1. I downloaded the binary and...

Stop. There are no binaries. The only releases are source releases. Some
people have made RPMs and DEBs of Ardour, and this was nice of them. But,
at this point in Ardour's development, anything older than the latest source
release is pointless.

1.2 Why no tarballs?

a) Because at this point in its development, I don't want to deal with
bug reports from a version that's more than 3 hours old. I am not
going to build and upload tarballs every 3 hours. Ardour sometimes
changes dramatically internally several times in a day. CVS lets
people easily, quickly, cheaply get the latest changes and build a
   completely up-to-date version.

b) To try to discourage people without sufficient programming skill from
trying to compile it. I don't have the time to provide hand holding
for the build process. Compiling Ardour can be very difficult,
although it's getting better all the time. When I feel it's likely that
most people will be able to compile the source without much
difficulty, I'll start releasing tarballs again.

Marcia,
How did you ever get this utill on.
Both,

ardour-0.107.3-1mdk.i586.rpm
ardour-0.107.3-1mdk.src.rpm,

version I tried with M8.2,refused citing massive dependencies.

By the way, from the descriptions, I'd say this is a sound mixer programme, to replace
the old multi-tape-decks,of old.If I am right these programmes are for recording
multiple sound tracks, but using your hard drive as the storage medium , instead of
tape, then later remixing and combining those sound tracks as one finished output. In
other words it's used by the music recording industry.

As it so happens I do have a need for such a system, if indeed it is one.

John

Re: [newbie] Virtual Host

2002-08-03 Thread Jordan Elver

I think you need to put the ip address of the host machine where the * is, and
you need one virtual host entry per site, even is it is specified above in
the http.conf.
