You might want to point out to them that Microsoft lost the rights to JAVA
some time ago and a several million dollars with it.. (court case with Sun)

Also since Java is not supplied default with IE 6 anymore and probably
won't be available in future versions that its in their best interests to
use the real java implementation which is likely to be around for the
foreseeable future.

Hi,
Using a trick that I learned on this list, (ip in mail headers) I tried to
connect to your web server. I am presented with a username / password prompt.
Also, your ftp server is accepting connections but it will not accept
anonymous connections.
Just an update.

I went through the site. I can get using umask 0007 and gid or uid the desired
results in windows folders not shared with using samba. But if I have a
folder say /a/b and if b is shared and given all permissions, then a is not
retaining the permissions given by umask of fstab

Ingo; Be careful. We're not talking about Canadian beer here, we're talking about that
weak Aussie beer. No Keith's Pale Ale down there! Stephen, what's the alcohol content

But if it's that weak stuff, then you better think about doubling that price!

Strange memories on this nervous night in Las Vegas. Five years later?
Six? It seems like a lifetime, or at least a Main Era -- the kind of peak that
never comes again. San Fransisco in the middle sixties was a very special time
and place to be a part of. Maybe it meant something. Maybe not, in the long
run... There was madness in any direction, at any hour. If not across the
Bay, then up the Golden Gate or down 101 to Los Altos or La Honda... You could
strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we
were doing was right, that we were winning...
And that, I think, was the handle -- that sense of inevitable victory
over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't
need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting
-- on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest
of a high and beautiful wave. So now, less than five years later, you can go
up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes
you can almost ___see the high-water mark -- that place where the wave finally
broke and rolled back.

Login to the console, and run "XFdrake" - make sure all the settings are
correct - it should determine what it thinks is right...once that's

Re: [newbie] You guys all owe SCO $1399 for your Mandrake

2003-08-09 Thread Thinker
I have been watching this thread for a while and .. well, I may not know
much about Linux but I can say that ...

1. Being an American that is married to a German woman, everyone I know
drinks Warsteiner Dark at room temperature. They say it is not so much
that American beer is weak, it is more that they put too many
preservatives and other additives in it. And they say Americans like
their beer cold because they cant stand to taste it any other way. So I
am thinking Warsteiner Dark or Peach Schnapps chasers and you will all
be good to go.

2. Being an American from the great state of Tennessee I think all I
have to say is 'Corn in a Jar'. Those of you that know what I am talking
about would agree; this remedy and no one will be mowing anything
anytime soon.

3. As for the smaller condoms... Evolution dictates the size of the male
sexual organ. Nature tells us that we 'Americans' don't have to be
equipped for sex with farm animals,
I admit some of my countrymen may be a little smaller than you in the
Outback. We don't have the "Sheepskin for sheep" label here in the US.

So yes, I am sure you guys are a little bigger. Otherwise, I suspect you
guys would have some pretty pissed off sheep.

Now back to the show...

I'm not attacking anyone here; I'm just trying to think about the
newbies that may be looking for help on Mandrake Linux problems. We
need to keep the traffic geared towards that end.

Mandrake 9.0?
I would like to get ppp-2.4.2, but can't seem to

Any help would be appreciated.

Boot to failsafe; then double check the /etc/lilo.conf and also edit the
/etc/inittab for default of runlevel 3; re-run lilo; reboot - you SHOULD
be at the console login; if not, boot back to failsafe, edit the
/etc/lilo.conf and tell vga=1; re-run lilo, reboot again. Once you've
got it sorted out in runlevel 3, you can change the inittab to runlevel
5 and then go back to doing your pr0n surfing.

RE: [newbie] how to burn *.bin

2003-08-09 Thread Paul
As you've top-posted I'll follow suit, hope it doesn't get too
confusing.

Try
http://www.edulinux.org/spip_en/article.php3?id_article=15

for k3b, or

http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/archive/t117139.html

for cdr.

I found these sites by entering 'k3b', 'burn', and '.bin file' into
http://www.google.com

There is a version 9 rpm out, but I forgot where I obtained it. There's
also a tarball of it available on www.real.com somewhere. The tarball
has difficulty installing anywhere except in ${HOME} ; but that's not
true of the RPM.

I've used it a little now, and I think you might as well stick with
version 8. I don't see anything new in version 9; in fact, it seems
a step backward.

Hmm, I believe that when your LEDs on your keyboard blink simutaneously,
its a
kernel related crash.

Have you tried updating your RPM database? As su/root, try:

rpm --rebuilddb

and see if it makes it through. If it does, see if it helps.
