um OK maybe I should make this clear to you all who wanna yak with me in
irc:

Bondage.com is an S/M network I hang out on. MsF means "MistressF". My
scene name. My submissives are in that room 24/7 as am I for the most
part.

Its the only irc network I am on anymore.

so if that freaks you out, don't go ...

you MUSt tell it which irc server to connect to...adding a "source" as
it were.

No...each network is separate.

Freenode is a Linux specific one.

the one i'm on is Bondage.com port 6667

so...to add it do:

add > irc.bondage.com (enter port number where necessary).

Connect.

Go to room #MsF-Room.

I'm in there pretty much 24/7.

if you need more help, ask.

from there I can teach you irc tricks & stuff fo getting things setup
easily.

i use Xchat btw..its fast, simple & a great IRC front end client.

TBH (to be honest) I do not know but I would presume if there are
ways to config sound in other WMs & not using the MCC, that workaround
should be fine to use.

I am not fluent in any other WM right now... I ended up with KDE because
well its more stable IMO & I don't need to hand config alot of things
thru scripts...and its not as minimalist as other windowsy type WM's
either. IE: Black box or IceWM.

if anyone cares to try this in another WM Pls post your results.

[newbie] tip for sound using KDE ArtsD

2003-10-01 Thread Heather/Femme
I've had instances of XMMS crashing off & on. No big deal.

Problem: it crashes and you Skull & Xbones the bugger. (Kill it with
CTRL-ESC), then try killing all the sound processes.

fine.
restart xmms, but it doesn't play or there is no sound yet its playing.

K so now what? Well one of my lovers told me to go into the KDE Control
centre... in there find your sound settings...its the first one under
"SOUND".

now change something. I usually enable Network sound stuff... hit
apply.

now uncheck it again & hit apply.

you can now restart xmms & the sound server *arts* will restart
automatically. voila! sound!

odd workaround but shrugs... it works.

[newbie] Lin Neighbourhood & WinXP

2003-10-01 Thread Heather/Femme
for some odd reason I can always access my g/f's comp with LN. Great
little program. It shows the shares & runs Midnight commander
automatically.

for some reason it will NOT see My laptop... this small 4 comp LAN is
behind a router... & I could get the shares for the laptop up till about
2 or 3 weeks ago.

just haven't had time to screw around with it till now to fix this.

I looked at the LN Site but don't remember seeing anything there for XP
specific questions...its rather outdated. :|

how can I find out how to access the laptop?? Sometimes too if I grab
info using LN it shows the laptops correct IP afer scanning it as a user
or not..sometimes it just doesn't find the laptop...at all!

ideas?

Trying to *make* an ISO from a CD.

Not burn one that is already made.

it just says "error" and the "creating image file" bars don't move...

helpful error.

you misunderstand.

I wish to *make* an ISO image file. NOT burn one that is already
present on my hard drive.
