Re: [newbie] kmail filters
Not sure about NOT downloading, but you can filter it straight to trash. Take a look at the filter options, dead easy. Re: [newbie] Carte Trident
Any of the recent ATI cards will work fine. For cheapness, try the SIS range or the Cirrus Logics. Your box spec is fine and Mandrake will run fine, though you could try LM8 which installs easier and supports more hardware. regards On Friday 31 August 2001 14:36, you said: > Hi ! > > I had to reinstall LM 7.2 because I changed a lot of things on my > machine. > > Now I have the same old problem: X doesn't work. Re: [newbie] windows shared printer??
Can you "see" the 95 box from Mandrake? i.e. in Network Neighbourhood? Or can you ping it? If so then then you need to tell 95 to share the printer, go to the printers folder and right click the printer and choose properties, then choose sharing and set it on. Then, as root, in Mandrake got to control center and set up the printer with the right drivers but tell Mandrake it's a Samba shared printer attached to the 95 box, IP numbers etc. Hope that helps On Monday 27 August 2001 08:21, you wrote: > Hi All! > > I have this HP Laserjet 1100 in our network connected to WIN95 machine. > And I want to a document from my Mandrake 8.0, What should I do to be able > to print to that printer? Re: [newbie] SB AWE32
Hey all Thanks to all who've replied, but I'm still not there. Updated the locate database, searched again with locate sndconfig in a console as root and searched from Konquerer as root. sndconfig is not on my installation, so can I get it somewhere or is there another tool I could use? [newbie] mount stuff
Hey, Have been able to mount my primary C:\ drive as hda1, but not the other 3 which are logicals. Fiddled round with fstab manually as root and via the applet in Linuxconf in KDE. Further I have have a second drive which, on boot, Linux finds as hdb1 - no surprises there then - but my attempts to mount it have failed. The main drive is a 17GB and the second a 3.2GB, no other problems running Mandrake 6.1 and Win98 together with dual boot. any help much appreciated TIA Jim seasons greetings to all

[newbie] KPPP again
Hey Thanks for all the responses to my recent post. But it still won't do it's thing. Plugged in all the relevant DNS numbers, edited the resolve file, changed PAP to CHAP and back again, read the Howto's looked at man stuff, tried a different ISP with relevant numbers again etc etc. Worked fine under Mandrake 6.0 but I did a clean install not the upgrade :-( any more thoughts appreciated TIA Jim
[newbie] KPPP
Hey Running 6.1 and everything's fine. Except Netscape - but I suspect it's a dial up problem. Plugged in all the relevant details to KPPP for my 'spare' Freeserve account and do the connect. I get in and the modem stays connected but Netscape won't find anything or give me an error message as it would if it saw no connection. Any help appreciated tia Jim
[newbie] SIS vid cards
Hey, Probably been done but Have a SIS 6326 on board AGP 8MB vid card. Installed and used, happily, Mandrake 6.0. Upgraded to the boxed, shrinkwrpaaed 6.1 Powerpack and X don't like it. Tried it both ways eg fresh install and upgrade. The X section of the installer comes back with the 'there's a problem with your X configuration' stuff. Left it there and ran 'Setup' from the shell as root and the same thing occurs. Running out of ideas, short of new vid card. TIA Jim
