Re: [newbie] 'Lost' Win95 FAT32 partition

2001-11-10 Thread King C Lee

Dear All,

After re-installing the system several times, I finally figure out tht the
problem is due to the LILo. After I remover the MBR under DOS and reset the
partition type by Linux fdisk, I can get back the partition under Windows
again. I think the problem is specific to the LILo version that ML8.1 use
because this problem does not recur even I write the MBR again using LILo
that are in RedHat 7.2

Does anyone had similar experience? Is this a bug in the LILo that ML 8.1
use? Is there a work around?

Regards.

[newbie] 'Lost' Win95 FAT32 partition

2001-11-04 Thread King C Lee

Dear all,

I am new to Linux and installed ML the first time. I do it on a 40G hard
disk with 20G divided into two Win95 FAT32 partitions with Windows Me
installed. After installation of ML 8.1, I cannot access the second Windows
partition from Windows. However, I can have access to its content under
Linux. Windows fdisk reported that this pratition is non-DOS while Linux
fdisk reported an id of 1b 'Hidden Win95 FAT32'. I manage to change the id
to b 'Win95 FAT32'. However, I still cannot see it under Windows. When I
check again in Linux, it changed back to 1b automatically.

Can anyone help, please!!

Regards

Chung
