For anyone that doesn't already know, Freewwweb is gone. I used Freewwweb for several months. If you go to their website now, you're told to download Juno Web to continue to have free internet. Does anyone know of any other free isp's that are Linux friendly? I tried 1 Nation Online (1nol.com), but I could never actually connect (even with 5 local numbers to choose from). Netscape won't actually connect you to your ISP. You have to connect with KPPP, then start Netscape. [newbie] Keyboard stops working in Netscape
I am using Mandrake 7.0. When I use netscape for a while my keyboard stops working in netscape. It still works for other programs, but not for netscape. I have to close netscape and restart for it to work. It makes it impossible to search for things or fill out forms. [newbie] clock gaining several hours a day
Ever since I had a power outage while running Linux my clock has been messed up. It gains several hours a day. The first thing I do every day is reset the clock. I'm running Mandrake 6.0. I downloaded Word Perfect yesterday. It unpacked normally. When I tried to run the file called 'Runme' it said there was nothing to do. I ended up doing a manual install (running install.wp). I thought it installed everything ok, but the file xwp was not installed. I cannot run Word Perfect without it. Any ideas? [newbie] Backing up MBR
I thought there was a program on the Mandrake cd for backing up the MBR. Now I can't find it. I looked on the cds for 5.3, 6.0, and 6.1. Am I missing something? [newbie] Problems while loggen in as root
Whenever I log in as root to do anything, after about 10 minutes (more or less) everything locks up and the only thing I can do is ctrl-alt-backspace. It happens regardless of which window manager I'm using. Although, it happens sooner in KDE. This doesn't happen if a log in as a normal user and use superuser mode, but that gets tedious. I have not been able to get my tape drive to work. I have read the How-To and the FAQ. No matter what I try, I get a message "device not found." I have a Conner tape drive that uses TR-1 cartridges.
