[newbie] refuse permission
Dear ones, i have installed mandrake or is it mad drake?! in its latest avatar and found that even when there is no fire wall it is refusing acceptance of email from outsied users. Say for example I send a mail to my machine which is running sendmail daemon nicely and sending mails to all the recipients in the world at large, it is refusing to accept mails sent to it. The reason given is that my machine is refusing to accept mails with the reason, access denied. RE: [newbie] Can someone explain to me how to.................
When u encounter a tar.gz to tgz file first gunzip it giving th e folowing command at the command line gunzip filename.tar.gz then it will be shortened to .tar file with a lager size we have to now untar it with the command tar -xvf filename.tar the tar will be removed and a directory created with the name of the module. Re: [newbie] Mandrake 7.2 Locks up when installing.
Sirs, I also tried to load MKL7.2 on a Fujitsu HDD of 4.3 GB using a boot floppy made for that purpose. After initially searching for my CDROM drive it said that no hard disk is found on the system. I tried with many utilities to detect the hard disk and none of them could detect it. A similar problem with Seagate Drive was solved easily. I think there are problems with the Fujitsu Drives afterall. I have lost that 4.3 drive and am intending to buy a sea gate hdd of 18 GB capacity. On Mon, 4 Dec 2000, Carroll Grigsby wrote: > Denis: > Could you expand on how you arrived at your conclusion? Re: Phil / CDRW (was Re: [newbie] Linux Mandrake Version 7)
At the command prompt, # or $ please type mount /mnt/cdrom If the system says nothing further , then the CD has been mounted. It will go to the CD after u give the command cd /mnt/cdrom Again type ls -l to see the contents of the cd and so on. To remove the CD go to the root directory bytyping cd / Then type umount /mnt/cdrom the computer will say nothing type eject and presto the cd tray will open and you can pack the cd in it jewel case! Re: [newbie] Gnome Vs. KDE
usually gnome and kde desktops get installed simultaneously. u can use either of them at the time of initial logging in. thereafter Mandrake72 asks u in what desktop u want to start using it. Click on Gnome or KDe ro wm or any other. Presto! On Tue, 28 Nov 2000, Kelly, Christopher wrote: > Okay, I'm curious. How can I use Gnome instead of KDE? Re: [newbie] Iso image of Linux-Mandrake
The iso image is meant for writing to a CD using one of the commercial CD Writers or the utilities on Linux. I tried to install from the HD but could not do for the fact that the iso image is a singhle file and has no other details. Please do that before trying to installOn Tue, 28 Nov 2000, J. wrote: > > Hi, > > I have a doubt: is posible to install an ISO image of > > Mandrake from a HD?. > > Have a good day. Re: [newbie] Mandrake 7.2 Disk image
They say that the iso image on the Mandrake site must be used as a cd image and then only burnt on the cd. thereafter everything will be fine. Without a floppy drive, how are u going to put in the bootable files needed to make the CD bootable? [newbie] Loading ML7.2
Dear Sir, I downloaded the iso files of mandrake-linux7.2 from the 192.114.47.57 ftp server and have burnt the two cds in the iso format. Now please tell me how I go about loading the software? It only shows one file of the iso extension and nothing happens when I double click it. -- S.Ganesan Senior Scientist Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering Berasia Road Bhopal 462038, INDIA Phone: 0755-730986 (O) 0755-732105 (R) Fax:0755-734016 Email<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Web Address:http://www.ciae.nic.in
