Re: [newbie] 3-button mouse
Try running mouseconfig again. **As root mouseconfig Go through that, and then try testing it again. Of course if you've not done that already. But I think that's where I'd start. I think that will ask you to test the mouse and let you know if it's going to work. I have a Kensington Expert Mouse Pro, and it works just fine. Mouse wheel, and 3 of the 4 mouse buttons work. And if I had time, I could probably get the 6 quick start buttons to work if I really worked at it. tdh -- T. No, it is just an ordinary mouse, with a little rubber ball which moves two rollers, which are connected to toothed wheels. Rotation is detected by an LED and sensor for each wheel. Re: [newbie] 3 Button Mouse -- Configuration
Yes, I can emulate a three button mouse (by checking the "emulate 3 button mouse" in mouseconfig), but since I really have three buttons on my mouse, I would REALLY prefer to find a way to make the center one work. [newbie] 3 Button Mouse -- Configuration
Hi, I am going to try this again. I feel certain that SOMEONE must know how to configure a 3-button mouse so that the middle button will actually work. I have a Matsonic ADO 101 CE serial mouse connected to COM 1. During installation, I set it up as a Generic 3-button mouse. I later tried selecting "emulate 3 button mouse" using mouseconfig. I also tried a few other settings, but although I can emulate the 3 button action by pressing the left and right keys simultaneously, I have been unable to get the middle button to work. Thanks for your help. Murray Strome

You should never select 'Emulate 3 button mouse" when you have 3 buttons. Unlike Windows, the middle/third button is not for double-clicking. In linux, when you highlight text, it is automatically copied. The middle/third button is used to paste that text. It takes a little getting used to when you are accustomed to the double-clicking function. NetZero - We believe in a FREE Internet. Shouldn't you? [newbie] 3-button mouse
Thanks to several people on the list I was able to solve a KDE problem. Now I wonder if someone can help me to get my three button mouse to work properly. (It operates as a two button mouse now). When I did 'mouseconfig', it detected my serial mouse on COM1. However, I had to select which one to use. My mouse is a Matsonic Model No. ADO-101. Not knowing what to choose from the table, I picked 3-button generic (serial). I did not select "Emulate 3 button mouse" on first try, but did later. Both selections resulted in the mouse acting as a simple two button mouse (the centre button does not work, nor does pushing both buttons at once). Murray Strome
