Sorry forgot to mention the type of CD's Tried several CD's including CD-R and CD-RW formatted to ISO 9960 with Joliet (using Nero). Tried original CD's from various sources. Even tested the Mandrake ISO images I burnt for Mandrake 8.1 and 8.2. I know Linux use to have a problem with Joliet but this was sorted quite a few Kernels back + it wouldn't work in KDE if that was the problem. And I haven't used any of the CD's in packet format, so I'm stumped.
