GMail team has just communicated me that Gmail does not currently
support the functionality to create an empty Reply-to address.

Your headers don't state what mail client you're using.

Tom,

GMail does not allow me to insert [EMAIL PROTECTED] as the
reply-to address. Therefore, it would not fix the problem, even I only
sent e-mails to this list.

That might work if Paul only sent email to this list, and
didn't have any friends ;)

Paul, the problem is not just your responsibility. Persons
replying to your posts can force a reply to the list, or to you.

I replied to this post by hitting the 'L' key ('R' would reply
only to you {lower case l's & r's}) in Kmail. However the 'reply
to' is set, that forces a reply to the list. Other email clients
have similar functions. If they don't... don't use 'em.

Because GMail does not allow me to do so, Margot. :-)

No idea how to permanently fix your problem, but, for the time
being, why don't you put the *list* address in the reply-to field?

Carroll,

Thanks for telling me that. I have selected no reply-to address in my
GMail configuration, but it still adds my own address. If I write
none, empty or blank as reply-to address, it happens what you have
just noticed.

I have already reported this problem to GMail team.

Thanks, Peter, for your helpful reply. I am using GMail and I am not
yet very familiar with it; I hope now I have lost the reply to address
in my headers.

OpenOffice.org calc will open text files containing tables directly using it's
import/export filter.

Go to File > Open, from the file type drop down box select "Text/CSV", select
the name of the file and press open, select the appropriate seperator, check
from the preview pane that the format is ok and then press ok. The file
should open.

Any problems read up under "importing" in OOo help

[newbie] Conversion from text to a spreadsheet format

2004-09-18 Thread Paul Smith
Dear All

I have got dozens of text files (which are the output of a simulation
program) containing tables of numbers. I would like to convert them
into a format readable by a spreadsheet program (OpenOffice Calc, for
instance), so that each number in the original text file can be
transformed in a spreadsheet cell. Is there such a converter?

Thanks in advance,

Paul
