You can edit /etc/group (as root) and manually create a new group and add yourself to it. (Make sure you assign a unique group id number if you create a new group.) Having said that, are you sure MCC doesn't allow you to add groups? regards Duncan Thanks for the information, Duncan. I was wrong, you can add groups with MCC. Derek explained how to do it in his reply. Cheers Keith Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com Join the Club : http://www.mandrakeclub.com

Select Options>FilterSystemUsers to see all the system groups. Right click on a group to add members. derek Thanks, Derek, for another very useful piece of information, of which I have made a note. I hadn't looked deeply enough into "Users and Groups". Keith Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com Join the Club : http://www.mandrakeclub.com

Re: [newbie] Groups within Groups
Hello. I actually don't have a use for it at the moment but was just wondering how I could just quickly assign a particular group to a particular set of users, instead of figuring out the groups for each user again and again e.g. an "internet" group which includes all sorts of internet-related subgroups, a "games" group which includes all multimedia and games groups etc. Thanks, George On Thursday 28 June 2001 08:10, n6tadam wrote: > Hello George, > > I apologise.
