And I'll reply to my msg that changing the permissions for 'group' was NOT a
good thing to do. Address book wouldn't come up and lost basically my whole
address book. Guess that will teach me not to screw around where I don't
belong.

A couple other strange kmail things I noticed this evening. The permissions
for the kmailrc file in ~/.kde/share/config owner as can read/write and group
as forbidden, another odd thing, I think, is that the file type is unknown.
I never did receive a reply in the kdepim list, going to ask on the mail kde
list and see if I get any reply.

Thanks Greg, guess I'll have to ask the same question in the KDE list also or
maybe search their archives first.

I don't have an answer for your question, but I noticed something else strange
about e-mail forwarding in the kmail in 10.1. In the past, if you forwarded
a message with an attachment, the attachment would be part of the forwarded
message, not so in 10.1. Maybe forwarding is completely broken in 10.1

[newbie] Kmail question

2005-01-04 Thread Chris
I asked this in the kdepim-users list but no reply yet, possibly someone here
can assist me, below is what I sent:

When forwarding a message either in-line or as an attachment, the full headers
are sometimes shown and sometimes not, most times not.  Since I mostly use
this to forward phishing msgs to certain addresses, its important that the
full headers are shown.  I've gone through the composer settings for Kmail
and haven't been able to get this to work yet.  If I remember correctly in
the previous version I was running this wasn't a problem as the full headers
were always shown in the attachment.

Can someone enlighten me on what changes I need to make to get this to work
correctly.

Thanks

quickie about kmail.when i click on a web page link that's been e-mailed
to me, the page opens up in Konqueror. i can't find where to make it open up
in mozilla web browser as the default. i've checked out all the options for
kmail and i don't see a way to make it default to mozilla instead of
konqueror. am i stuck with it this way and have to manually select mozilla
every time or did i miss something? thanks!

What version of Kmail? On 1.3.1 I just right click the address I want to
reply to, select "Send reply to..." and that's it. In Message window.

if i understand you, try right clicking on the adress you want. has a few

also, i think you will find that when it doesn't work, is when the sender

If I understand your question, you want to reply to the list rather than
just the person who sent the email. You can hit the 'Reply All' button.
Although this replies to the list and the person. Don't know if you can
just reply to just the list.

Hello!

In the present case, the person the question was sent to is the list,
right? By default, kmail replies to the list when pressing the reply
button.

>IE, in the "To:" field is the newbie list address, I want to reply to
> that address

I don't get it. The reply button replies to the list, without changing
any setting.
By the way, with a single click on the address, you can get a mail
editor window set up to the address you want to write to. But the
subject is not set up and the body is empty

> when I hit the "Reply:" Button in Kmail.

But there is something strange in the addresses display.
For instance, if somebody writes to me, in his message's
header, there is my address in the "To" field. But kmail
displays:

[Subject] (in large bold characters)
From: MyFriend <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

This doesn't seem too logical.

Configure Kmail

Select account (highlight)
modify
Enable interval mail checking
set the interval
ok
ok

I never could get Konqueror or Kmail to work right. Netscape works fine
for me , but I use Mozilla, which works just as well and has some nice
skins . I think it's probably a question of whatever works for you.
Different systems seem to work better with different things. I think
that with Linux, experimentation is crucial. Find what works for your
system and keep checking the ones that didn't work as they become upgraded.

Hi Jim and all,
All config files that are particular to a user are in the users /home
directory, or for root are in /root. I always backup /root /home as well as
/usr/local - which is where I add my scripts or progs I have found.
I also backup /etc/fstab, ..*.conf, ...conf.* config.* and

Hope this helps.

[newbie] Kmail question

Greetings!

Has anybody figured out how to create mailing lists in Kmail? I have read
the documentation and I could not find anything about mailing lists.
Mailing lists come raelly handy in any organization, so I am quite surprised
the Kmail does not have this feature. I hope I am just missing something.
