Hi there: Thanks for the suggestions. I tried to get the cooker mirror as suggested by Axalon. However, I am unable to do so because I do not have a working version of Linux-Mandrake installed. I cannot boot my machine with the provided boot kernel because I get access errors to both the secondary harddrive and the CD-R/RW drive. Is there anything else I can try? Hi Sebastian: Thanks for your input. Actually, I have errors by the time the kernel is trying to mount the filesystems. The only choice I have made so far is to press ENTER to start the installation. Hence, my partitions are still intact. In fact, I can still boot the current version of Slackware Linux that I have installed. However, I am unable to go far down in the installation to actually answer any other questions. I am confused by this statement. I think I understand the kernel does
not support the particular CD-ROM that I have and that's the reason for the
errors. However, below is the output from the kernel indicating that the
CD-ROM drive was recognized. It does not say the brand, but the description
is right on the money (HP CD-Writer Plus 8200i, 4X/4X/24X).

Well, I've had the same problem with BOTH distributions of Linux. :-) My problem is it won't boot from the IDE drivebut if I boot off a floppy, everything is JUST fine! :-) Oh, well... Don't be so offended. I just was stating the fact that from my peronal experience, I had no problems with RedHat as opposed to Mandrake. Given my current time constraints is was simply less time consuming to try a different distribution. Thus far I've no problems the "different" distribution. I do not understand why the hard drives are used and mounted correctly
with Windows 95 and Slackware.
Do you have any ideas?
