I tried Peanut Linux for an even older PC. While it worked, I found
that Slackware ran just fine and gave me more. See

Too slow and I can't install knoppix easily... shrugs. I just want a
bare bones linux install to play with for tutorials & Stuff I can do
while on teh couch stoned or watching tv & use it tween commercials.
Knoppix is too bloated for my little p2 233.

Femme, any particular reason for using Peanut? I have used Knoppix as a demo
for several folks and it works in every comp so far. Even worked on one with
a totally dead hard drive, drive would not even spin. It d/ls as an iso and
you burn it just like Mandrake. It is a single disk OS based on debian so it
is a bit different than Mandrake but not that much. HTH

1) d/l http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/peanut/current/iso/small.iso
2) Toss a blank CD in your burner.
3) Figure out the dev number of your burner with "cdrecord -scanbus". It's the three
   numbers separated by commas.
4) On the commandline type "cdrecord dev=0,0,0 speed=8 -v -dao small.iso"
where 0,0,0 is the dev number of your burner.

Boot to it.
