 I Dont know if you tried this or not,but you should be able to reset the security
level under the security panel in DrakConf, let me know if this is of any help or
not.

I think what you've done is great and shouldn't be 
undone!  Logging in as a user and *only* using root priv's when 
necessary.  You may not like the process, but it's the right thing to do 
--> anyway, I don't know how to undo 'paranoid security'.
