I'm new and need to know how to approach things. DO NOT do the test in the install. answer with a resolution that you KNOW will work e.g. 800x60016bpp and then do NOT boot automatically into X. I am helping a friend install Mandrake 7.0, everything goes fine until he gets to X configuration, he inputs all his video info, but when the install tests the configuration, instead of the screen asking "Can you read this" he gets a screen with a background and an X curser that he cannot control??? The screen goes blank and no more installation... Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks -KDM

Hi... I am still having some problems getting my X running. Running SuperProbe I get, Server:SVGA and S3 trio 2D/3D. Then running XF86Setup, the graphic mode starts alright, but after configuring it, my X shows the mouse cursor as a square. I was told to add the line option "sw_cursor" in my /etc/X11/XF86Config in the section devices, but X points an error in this line whenever I try to run it or XF86Setup. [newbie] x configuration
I have a cirrus logic GD5422 with i believe 1 MB of memory on it. I have a CTX VL500 with says it can do up to 1280x1024, 60Hz but is recommended 800x600, 100 Hz I want to configure it for 800x600 16bit color? Can any one help me? I got x working, but it is at a lower resolution. --- lee If you don't want to know the answer, don't ask the question.
[newbie] X-Configuration Problem !
Hi Guys: I have a KDS VSx-7e (Visual Sensations) monitor. While doing the X-configuration, this monitor is not listed, so I went for custom setup. I entered the Horizontal Sync and Vertical Sync as entered in my manual. But I keep on getting an error that 'there is a problem with your X-Configuration'.
