Re: [newbie] galeon and opera

I recently upgraded to Mozilla 1.1 and Galeon 1.2.6 (which now supports Mozilla
1.1.x and 1.2.x). On my system, they are about as fast as Opera. Mozilla 1.2a is
supposed to be even faster, but I don't feel like using an alpha-release.

I find Opera fastest for most pages. It also loads much faster and is less
memory intensive. On the other hand, Galeon (1.25) does a better job of
rendering certain pages that are Internet Exploder optimized...Java too,
especially forms (Mozilla 1.x does the best job here.) Lastly, Konqueror is
convenient if you are also using it as a file manager. I find that I end up
using multiple browsers.
Just my $0.02.

galeon 1.0.3 which I use has tabs. My bank details are shown properly by
running javascript. opera on the other hand complains about the script.
Doesn't render the page as it should have been.
Any clues! it has java enabled and jacascript enabled.

IMHO, 0-60 nuthin beats Opera! Now I will agree that Galeon.or Mozilla, do maybe
have an edge on displaying certain sites.
I like Opera, what can I say? I'm using 6.03, and it is very stable on my Mdk8.2
system. I don't seem to be able to get java working though, so that's a point for
Galeon.

Opera 7 sounds like it may be a winner, but I don't know if that will translate into a
Linux version anytime soon. 8-(

That's just IMHO...not fight pickin'. ;-)

They are both great browsers. Galeon is generally considered to be faster
than Mozilla, but IMO Opera is faster even than Galeon, and has a smaller
memory footprint and will work better in low end machines.
(This is just my opinion remember)

However.. They both have their limitations. Galeon is possibly better at
rendering pages with 'Internet Explorer' javascript on them. But on the other
hand recent builds of Galeon (I am using 1.2.5) have been a little unstable
and seem to crash a lot.

It really comes down to which browser suits you best since their speed is
similar.
At the moment I think Opera's feature set is still better (just) . I like the

'mouse gestures' (galeon has them too but they do not work as well),
'tabbed windows'(Galeon has tabbed windows too, but they have to be all the
same size)

BTW: You mention galeon 1.03 That is a bit out of date, and I do not think it
has either of these features.
