It means you haven't downloaded the key. You can do so, or just
ignore that message. If your sources are Ok (never heard the
opposite), just continue. I do it all the time.
If you say which sources are giving the error, someone may be able to
tell you
which key you need and where to get it.

Anne

Thanks for offering to help. I managed to get things striaghtened out by
going to the directory on my computer where the files had been downloaded
by urpmi and I got all but one to install by just clicking on it.

[newbie] GPG

2005-01-21 Thread eric jackson
Forgive me but after reading through the archives I can't seem to find an
answer to my question although I'm sure it's been asked before.

When I try to install an rpm I often get an error saying "The following
packages... have bad signatures... I know that means that means the GPG
key is missing but I don't know what to do to correct the problem.

Thanks for your help.

If you still have the other machine avaiable then copy ~/gnupg from your
old machine to the new machine.

[newbie] GPG use question

2003-09-03 Thread Trey Sizemore
Dumb question, but I created a GPG key pair a while back and have since
moved to another machine. I have both the original .asc file and
revoke.asc file backed up to a zip disk. I want to use the key again
for email and such. How do I make it so that I can sign emails
(Evolution, KMail) with this key. If I know the number and put it in
Evo, for example, I have been getting errors:

gpg: skipped `E676E7E8': secret key not available
gpg: signing failed: secret key not available

and it never prompts me for the password. I feel I should enter some
gpg command at the command line to get this machine to recognize it...or
am I way off?

[newbie] gpg?

2002-09-27 Thread Bo Rosén

Hiya,
Just installed MDK 9.0, but can't find gnupg? Is it me, or isn't it
included?

Other than that (so far) everything looks great. Made a clean install,
and everything runs very smoothly (Gnome 2).

Cheers,
Bo

[newbie] GPG won't sign Kmail messages

2001-10-22 Thread Peter Watson

I got GnuPG 1.0.4 and Kmail 2.1.1

GPG will encrypt messages from kmail fine, but if I try to sign a
message I get asked for my passphrase and then nothing happens.

Anybody else seen this?

[newbie] GPG and PGP questions

2000-08-10 Thread Daniel J. Ferris

Something I was wondering as I viewed the GPG web page. It says it
supports all of these ciphers, Blowfish, Twofish, Cast, MD5, IDEA, and a
bunch of other ones.

So, which one to use? I personally doubt that they are all created
equal. Which ones are the best?
