[newbie] Kvoice

2000-06-19 Thread John Arkoulis

I try to set up kvoice on my computer. Every time I try to setup the greeting
message (importing it as WAV file) I get the message to check the permissions of
the setup file (logged as root) The permissions are Ok and even as root I get
the same message. When I try to record a greeting message as soon as I hit the
record button kvoice dissapears from my desktop.
Anybody out there who has used before kvoice or has an idea whats wrong?

Has anybody used kvoice
I cannot record a greeting message.
Every time I try to import a greeting message in WAV format it says that it
cannot write the /var/spool/voice/messages file and to check the permissions.
I changed the permissions but I still get the same message.
On the other hand every time I try to record my greeting message using kvoice
as soon as I hit the record button it just dissapears from the desktop!!!
Any ideas will be appreciated.

Has anyone out there had any luck with Kvoice? (Fax/Answering machine)

I got my modem working ok (as verified by the fact that I got Kppp to
dial my cell phone! :-)

But Kvoice seems to have unrelated problems... My modem is in there
okay, but or instance, it crashes when I try to record a voicemail
greeting, won't play any preselected .wav files I choose for greetings,
it won't pick up the phone, it says it is sending spooled faxes and it
isn't, --the list is endless.

I also have it configured to play sound through my soundcard and it
doesn't play anything as far as I can tell.

Just wondering if anyone else had any luck, or if there's a better Linux
program for this stuff.

Thanks,
Karen
