RE: [newbie] using LM 8.0 as a mail server

2001-06-07 Thread Franki

sendmail and postfix can both be setup and maintained via Linuxconf and
Webmin,,

None of them is REALLY easy, there is no way around it,, besides, if you are
using a mta, you should know abit about it all... or you will be leaving
yourself open to problems...

the question, my friend, is not 'is there one' but rather,
'which one'. :)

www.qmail.org
www.sendmail.org

of course, these are linux programs...so they must not be
as 'standardized' or as 'secure' as microsoft products
which is why about 3 gazillion (or, a lot) mail servers are
using it.  :)

it seems like a good combo for email and server is qmail
and freebsd...just from what i've seen anyway.

good luck

Tom,

sendmail and / or postfix should be included on the LM 8.0 CDs, or you can
download them from any of the Mandrake mirror sites.
