Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Spine label printer recommendations
Justin, I did receive some responses off list. We purchased the Dymo 450 and have been happy with it. There is a small glitch with Evergreen but I think we can work that out. From the list archives it seems that spine label printers comes up about once a year and as far as I can tell there wasn't ever a response to your (this) annual inquiry. In the past the Dymo 450 was not working with Evergreen - but that may have changed since then. The other printer mentioned as being recommended, although I believe it was by a vendor, was the TSC TTP 245. We purchased a few of these to use outside of Evergreen and I'll confirm that they are a very nice printer. They are fast and the labels/resin we use with them are extremely high quality. It was said that the stock for the Dymo printer may fade after a few years and subsequent posters said this would likely be the same for the TSC 245. Our labels aren't nearly that old but based on my time with them I doubt it would happen in 2-3 years. Maybe you've already bought something? If so, what did you go with? We have a library that may be looking at purchasing a printer. I've read in the list archives the recommendation for the Dymo 400, but since that model is discontinued I am wondering what people think about the Dymo 450. Is it easy to use? Do the labels last? Does it integrate well with Evergreen or is there another interface needed to print the labels? Is there a recommendation for another brand/model of printer? Cost is a factor since we had not budgeted for a new printer this year. We need something reliable that we hopefully won't have to replace again in the near future. I don't expect it will last for 20+ years like our Okidata, but it would be nice to have some longevity. Any information would be extremely helpful. We would like to get something as soon as possible since our book processing is currently stalled until we can print labels again! Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Spine label printer recommendations
Good to know support for the 450 as improved. Thanks Janet. Justin On Aug 2, 2012, at 12:01 PM, Janet Royer wrote: Justin, I did receive some responses off list. [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] portable barcode scanners for inventory
Hi there, We are planning to do an inventory and are in the process of considering a few options. If at all possible, we would like to use the portable barcode scanners that the library already owns. Our problem is with the scanners themselves, Falcon PT40, and we are wondering if anyone might know how to configure the scanner to dump the barcodes in a text file. Right now, when we scan a barcode, it comes with extra characters and the barcodes are in one continuous line in the file. Thanks! [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Action triggers
Hello, everybody. In Evergreen documentation for versions 1.6 and 2.0 I can locate the section on Processing Action Triggers [1]. I can't seem to find the equivalent section in documentation for versions 2.1 and 2.2. I am working with 2.2. Is the information [1] still relevant? Or are action triggers processed differently these days? Any help is welcome, including in the form of a link to a piece of documentation or a list thread I may have overlooked when searching for information on this topic. Thanks!
