OK, this has to use the old process: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/ogb/policies/project-instantiation.txt So basically find a sponsoring community group (Systems Administration would be a good one to choose!). Put together a brief summary of the proposal (see section 2.2 of the above document), and either send it to sysadmin-discuss or to me and I'll push it through for you. -- -Peter Tribble http://www.petertribble.co.uk/ - http://ptribble.blogspot.com/ ___ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org

Under the current process, you need to get one of the community groups listed on: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/communities/#portal to sponsor you, a +1 here won't help. Hi James, Apologize that it took me a while to respond to your comment. The thought that I will be accused of accusing someone of your (highly respected) stature to be associated with the R-word flabbergasted me. But recently (even) I was being openly called a "racist" b/c I don't openly support a certain candidate. Thus, perhaps this is not as big a deal as I was trained to believe. I always thought there was a conspiracy within Sun to insist on IIIMF. I know that will be detrimental to the acceptance of OpenSolaris in the China market (and thus detrimental to Sun's interest). Whether that thought has any foundation, I have no idea. Last night I was watching a Taiwan TV station. It commented that the Chinese government has changed its mind and will use its huge cash surplus (about $ 2 trillion US dollars--the only country in the world that can do that) to help stabilize world financial market, and predicted that the stock market should move up today. Well, up it does. (I am sure this is only one of the factors, but this is the one that none of our major TV stations in the US talked about.) In China, a subprime is a mortgage with "only" 20% down. But of the most interest to us, is the government's policy to switch its economic focus from export-based to expanding domestic markets. I really wish that, whether we understand Chinese or not, we should always keep marketing in mind, and China is going to be a major playing ground. Actually, if the OpenSolaris LiveCD does well there, it will greatly help our cause at least in the US. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org ___ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org

Could there be a minimal install cd in time for OpenSolaris 2008.11 for people setting up servers, older PC's, installing on the eeepc, etc and otherwise have space requirements?
