Re: [osol-discuss] printer installation
FWIW, the Gutenprint driver shipped in OpenSolaris supports this Epson printer, so it should show up in the "print manager" (system-config-printer) or CUPS web interface as an option for make/model. -Norm On 07/ 6/10 11:17 AM, Ghee Teo wrote: On 07/ 6/10 04:36 PM, chuck bowers wrote: I have been doubly stymied: I cant install my Epson CX94000 printer, and cant find any printed help on the matter. Re: [osol-discuss] printer installation
Are you familiar with CUPS at all? I actually just set up my printer yesterday, it's an old one for which I had the ppd file (cups postscript printer definition file). Look here: http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/database/databaseintro and if you can find the best ppd file for your printer, you can always edit the current information for the printer that is somewhat installed and attach the ppd. Or, you might also want to download the foomatic database files through the software installer, which will give CUPS more printer options I believe. One last thing you may or may not be familiar with, it's sometimes easier to deal with CUPS using your browser instead of the gui -- just go to http://localhost:631 and that should bring up the cups interface. If or when it asks for a user and password, use root user otherwise it gets cranky and won't let you do anything. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org ___ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org
