Subject: Hooking Up An FM Transmitter

Hello and Happy New Year to all you good folks: I received one of those FM
transmitters from /C-Crane for Christmas. Now..I need to know..where it is
that I can plug it in! I don't have any "output" jacks on mycomputer; I
have a plug where the speaker is; below that is an "input" jack..and below
that is where the microphone plugs in. Okay..stupid question time: am I
correct in assuming that plugging the transmitter into the "input" jack of
the computer won't work? If it would, it'd solve a problem as..like I
mentioned earlier..the computer doesn't have a "line out"; it just has a
"line in!" So does that mean that I must use the speaker jack? Thanks for
your help; you may remember..I'm the guy that..a little while back..was
looking to find where my jacks were located; I've located themm..but am
unsure of where would be the appropriate place to put the FM transmitter!
Hopefully in the not-too-distant future, I'll have another computer; one
with a bonified soundcard in it! Thanks again.

A Question For A Friend

2005-01-01 Thread Tom Kaufman
Hello again list: I have a friend who sometimes receives emails that
have
music that plays; guess you could call them "Music within the message."
Thing is..for some reason, she is now unable to hear the music! She has
Windows Media (not sure of the version) Real Player and Winamp; again..don't
know which version. I also don't know which soundcard she has; I realize
I'm probably not providing you folks with much info here. But I told her
that I'd try and find out..and will forward any responses back to her.
Thanks in advance for the help..and hoope I didn't veer too far off-topic!

Hi Shannon. MP3, I think has to do with moving pictures, and MPG means
moving pictures group. WMA means Windows Media Audio, and RM means Real
Media. And of course, there is Og Vorvis. I hope this helps.

Hello list,
I am slow in getting in the pool of digital. I would like to know if
there
is info out here in the world written for dummies?
I am looking for digital stuff 1o1. Grin!

I would like to understand the different file types their advantages and
disadvantages. How they work and what to use them for and what uses
them.
What is the definitions of all these abbreviations I hear floating
around in
my Alphabet soup.
If anyone has any info or places I can go to learn about this stuff I
would
like to expand my horizons.

I have found that I know just enough to confuse myself even more than
when
I knew nothing!

I have a really nice mini MP3 recorder /player but I haven't the
foggiest
idea what all that stuff means in the manual. They left out the much
needed
Glossary of terms.
I need a pointer to the basics.
All I really know is that if I click on the file it should pop up in the
media player and do its thing. I have no idea how it works. How to
manipulate it or what I can do or not do to files.

Like Schultz said, "I know nothing!"
If you can help I would be so appreciative.

Subject: sp2 and burning CD's, issues?

Hi everyone!
this question might have been raised before and if yes well all my
apologies to ask it again.

I recently upgraded to windows xp sp2 pro edition. I don't know if it is
related to this but yesterday I wanted to burn a CD. Everything seemed to
run smoothly and my burning software (I used real player 10 for this) said
that tracks were on CD. As I checked the CD I found out that there was
nothing at all on it.
I used a CDR, burning at a 24X speed.
After this I tried with roxio easy CD Creator 5 and nothing. Same issue.
So, what is it due to? Is there something in SP2 that prevents the burning
of CDs?
Do I need to upgrade roxio to CD/DVDcreator 7?

I'm asking this because given the price of such upgrade I'd like to make
sure that there is an issue with sp2. If there is none known then that
means that the problem comes from somewhere else (CD burner for instance)

Thanks in advance for your kind answer

Doc,
Are you saying that this is a change from Nero 5.5? I did not think 5.5
would burn from the .wma format. Thanks.

will this program lett you record analog to separate individual channels?
Are you using more than one sound card and if not what type of card are you

You don't need their special tape machine -- just use a regular one
and split the channels and reverse one of the channels using a sound
editor -- if you don't have one try goldwave, but many will do that.

You can find the control panel by pressing start, then S until you hear
"settings". Then press c for control panel.

If you don't have "What you hear," you may want to go into the options menu
on the recording dialog box, either that or properties, and see if it's on
the list of options to select. If so, check it and press OK. If not, I'm
unsure as to how you can record what you want to record.

sp2 and burning CD's, issues?

2005-01-01 Thread Aymeric Vildieu

AYMERIC

If you want to record all that's going on in your sound card, go into the
control panel, press "sounds and Audio." On the audio tab, press the
record button and select "What you hear."

Samuel,

What sound card are you using? That's important to know in order to help
with a solution.

Thanks.

Re: Total recorder recording question

2005-01-01 Thread Susan Wojtecki
Antonio,
Not sure if this was answered, but you will find the properties dialog from
within your volume control settings. By default it is set to show playback
settings, so go to volume, hit Alt-F and down arrow once until it says
options then once more to properties and press enter. Now tab once and you
are in a dialog where you are presented with playback and recording choices.
Down arrow once to recording and press enter and you will see the recording
options for your soundcard. I believe only one of these can be checked, at
least with my Soundblaster Live card this is true, so you probably want to
check the What You Hear or Mixer device or whatever this is called on your
soundcard. Hope this helps.

Susan

Doc,
Are you saying that this is a change from Nero 5.5? I did not think 5.5
would burn from the .wma format. Thanks.
