MP3 Tag studio revisited
Hi David and raoul and anyone else who uses this program. I haven't totally given up with this, and have successfully retagged files from Explorer. Okay, so how do I edit a template, i.e. the explorer gives me the option to retag \artist\album\track - title. I now need one that does Artist - album - track - title. where do I build this, can it be saved, and hence accessed from explorer. It says in the manual that it can be done. Many thank s for your patience, Dave. File extention problem
I just downloaded what I thought was an mp3 file. It doesn't sound like it to me, in fact, it sounds like nothing on earth. I have tried giving it various file extentions, but with no luck. Has someone invented a way of compressing stuff into mp3 files, do I need to do something to the file, is there a way to find out its correct file extention? Thanks for any help, Dave. Thanks David, I will have another try. Dave. - Original Message - From: "David Truong" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, April 20, 2004 1:43 AM Subject: Re: Tagging mp3 files HI Dave, I still use it and wouldn't be without it. The best way to use mp3 tag studio is not via the windows explorer but via the mp3 tag studio interface itself. I think you may be missing the concept of how the interface is implemented. Mp3 Tag studio has two modes which the user interface can be in. They are advance and beginner. I mainly use the advance mode but the difference between the two modes is simply that the beginner mode has check boxes which you can use to specify your tagging or renaming criteria and the advance mode allows you to enter text tokens to represent the tagging info such as - .mp3. I assume you've read the help right through? What screen reader are you using by the way? I wrote a message a while ago on h9ow to use mp3 tag studio. I hope I still have it. Re: Tagging mp3 files
Okay guys, This program has finally won. I think it may be because I'm using window eyes, but I can't find the edit field where I am supposed to put the components of the tag, and it also won't let me select files. I give in. Thanks for all your help, Dave. - Original Message - From: "David Truong" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, April 20, 2004 3:56 AM Subject: Re: Tagging mp3 files Hi Dave and Raul, Thanks Raul for resending that message listing the short cut keys. I had forgotten I wrote that one. However, below is the actual message I sent to one of my fellow ACBRI broadcasters ages ago in my days with ACB Radio Interactive. I hope this helps you Dave. -Original Message- HI, Below is a message I posted to another list regarding the use of mp3 studio. This message does not cover all of the features of this program but might be helpful in some way in the use of it. *** Start of message *** Hi, Mp3 Studio has two modes for users to build their templates / tasks. An advance mode and a simple mode. The advance mode allows the user to enter in their templates / tasks manually via an edit field and text tokens such as etc, whilst the simple mode allows the user to build the templates and other tasks via checkboxes which are very accessible. I got a heap of MP3's from mates but they didn't tag them properly so I went and hunted the track listings of the MP3 albums they gave me and used MP3 tag studio to tag them all. For example, One of my mates tag his MP3's without the track numbers and the file names he gave his MP3's were - .MP3. I wanted to have the track number info in the MP3 tag for both v1 and v2! So I just got the relevant track listing and just stuck the relevant track number in front of each file and then told MP3 tag studio to tag the 13 MP3 files in this album by using the file name template of - - .MP3. Of course this is only a basic example but it saved me from having to open each file and put the track numbers in. There is a section in MP3 tag studio where you can put this sort of info in manually but again you have to arrow through a list box to the file you want and tab to the track number field and that can get tedious. I'd rather quickly stick the numbers in front of each track in win explorer. Another example, one of my other mates had all of the necessary MP3 tag info in his MP3's but he did not have the track numbers showing on the actual file name of the MP3's. So I just used the Rename file from mp3 tag information options of MP3 tag studio using the same template of - - .MP3. You can also tell MP3 tag studio to strip out those annoying underline characters and fix the case of your files. Depending how you build your templates, you can tell MP3 tag studio the exact info you want your MP3 tags to have and you can do the same for the actual MP3 file name as well. Also, MP3 tag Studio supports directory recursing which means you can apply tasks to a whole drive or directory tree if you want to. It has a nice little tool to make mp3 catalogues or mp3 lists as well. If you end up using the program, there are a couple of things to note. If you decide to use the advance mode of the template builder where you specify the fields that get entered via an edit field and you are using JFW, you have to use your Jaws cursor to find the field and left mouse click on it to bring it into focus. This may not be necessary in Window Eyes though. Also, in most dialogues, control+enter executes your task. *** End of message *** David Truong E-mail and MS messenger: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Home Page: http://members.optusnet.com.au/davidtruong/ ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

David, I've tried to get this program working, but failed. I did the following: 1. selected some files in explorer. 2. went into the file menu. 3. selected retag files artist album track title Nothing happened. I think once the program is set up, it could be really useful, but setting it up is a real pain. Do you still use it, or have you found a better alternative? Re: Tagging mp3 files
Wt up until now, but my external mp3 player uses the tags to organize its database. The tag can be different from the actual file name, and I want them to be the same. When playing in winamp, the tags aren't a problem because the songs play in alphabetic sequence, but on my external player, the tags are used, and if they contain nothing or contain rubbish, the tracks will play in the wrong sequence. Re: Tagging mp3 files
Hi again Andrea, I'm totally confused. I downloaded the program, but can't get anything to happen. There's a dialog with lots of checkboxes etc. I can set everything up, but there's no OK button or GO button or Convert button. How do I start it doing things? Many thanks, Dave. - Original Message - From: "Andrea Sherry" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: Tagging mp3 files
Andrea thanks for this. I've just bought an mp3 player, and when I transfer files to it, it uses the mp3 tag to determine where the file should go, so everything ends up a mess. I'll try your suggestion. Dave. - Original Message - From: "Andrea Sherry" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Tagging mp3 files
I'm having a bit of a problem with some wrongly tagged mp3 files. The name of the file bears no resemblance to the tagging. I'd like the tag to be the same as the file name. I've got lots of files to alter. Does anyone know of a program that will do this for me, or at least make it a bit easier? Thanks, Dave. Cooledit pro 2.0 question?
Does anyone know a non pointy clicky way of selecting part of a file in colledit pro. Not from the beginning. There's a bit in the middle I need to get rid of. I thought I'd found it, but I lost a load of stuff, so I must have been wrong. Many thanks for any help, Dave.
