That's right. It is tested for a depth of 1m and 30 minutes of  
immersion. But it may not be operated under water. It is waterresistent  
class 7 JIS. A description of theese classes can be found here:



BTW - the lens is fixed. i.e. all moving parts of the zoom system are  
inside the camera.

I had the chance to handle the 33WR. It is very nice - good pictures and  
very fast for a compact digicam. It is ready for shooting only a second  
after being switched on. You can find two original pictures of the 33WR  
at the bottom of this German report:

It ought to work fine for that. IIRC, it is water resistant to the 
dunkable point (brief immersion). Hard to remember details as my 
friendly Pentax Rep extracted a promise not to reveal anything until 
after it was officially announced and it has been awhile.

 Has anyone seen the press release on this? It's on the Pentax USA site. It
seems to be the digital version of the weather-resistant film camera, and it
has a lot of features. My husband the cop is already interested since he
does photography on the job under lots of lousy conditions.
