Re: Mavis Staples/Bob Dylan
The Staples family, what a legacy. I was going to write some lame-ass whinings about Xtravaganza, meeting nice people (cudos Maria/Rebecca/Mechel) but your post helped to keep all that in perspective. Thanks for the rare heartfelt "review." Re: Stuff (Bare Jr.)
*Boo-Tay* got an F- in the latest Atlanta *InSite* entertainment rag. AN F-!! Quote: "Jesus Christ, there should be a law against music like this!" That makes me actually want to hear it. [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > ACK!!! I agree with Matt cook! Bare Jr. sound terrible to me. > > Slim
Re: Knoxville and the Shane Shack - Maggie Maggee's
Talked to "Jim" at NEA and he says Maggie's has reopened. A big sigh of relief for/from all concerned. He said they always had a back-up plan if needed... oh great. jb [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > In a message dated 2/8/1999 1:34:21 AM Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] > writes: > > Jon Byrd and Greta Lee > > ps: We're at Maggie Magee's for Extravaganza Sat. the 13th at 10PM > > and opening for Heather "Hardcore Country" Myles Fri., Feb. 19th in ATL at > > the< > > Jon, > > Bad news here: Fairly sure that Maggie Magee's got closed for for tax issues > last week, leaving a bunch of X'99 folks scrambling for venues. Knoxville and the Shane Shack
Hey everybody, It's been just over a week and Greta and I are still buzzin' from our visit to the Shane Shack and WDVX's Studio C. We don't have to tell y'all P2ers what a cool guy Mr. Rhyne is, but we did want to let everyone know what fun we had and just how proud we are to put East Tennessee's "littlest mobile broadcast booth" on our resume. What a great treat. Shane treated us like the royalty we ain't! For all you touring/giging slobs like us, Kieth at the Bird's Eye View did way right by us and the room/sound/stage was professional AND very friendly. Again, thanks for all the support Shane, and all the information, inspiration, aggravation, and tarnation we get from P2. Jon Byrd and Greta Lee ps: We're at Maggie Magee's for Extravaganza Sat. the 13th at 10PM and opening for Heather "Hardcore Country" Myles Fri., Feb. 19th in ATL at the Star Bar. If any of you ever catch us, don't be like Smilin' Jim, come up and say "HEY."

Extravaganza
P2 Folk: Have I missed it or is the Nashville Extravaganza 'old' up-coming news? We only found out today (from their site, not a call, a card, or a letter!) that we're scheduled to play. Great, but not much lead time. NEA's site had been down or incomplete until the last 48hrs. BTW, lots of great acts over a 3 day period. Not bad for New Hampshirites. Jon Byrd ps: thanks to all P2ers playing the Greta cd

Re: CD reviewing ethics
I also wrote for the Loaf for nearly a couple of years while playing in a couple of bands and finally quit due to my good conscience, the fact that Slim got all the good alt. country stuff to write about, and all that was left was Nashville shite. See, my Mom always said "If you can't say something nice..."
