I have it in mine [?] but for the filters I use "Sender" which works just

I know, but someone on this list explained it to me that way some time
ago. PowerMail does support IMAP, but rudimentary compared to Mail and
Entourage that have been tailored to work with an Exchange server.
But I am way beyond my knowledge now, only assuming!

As far as I remember, IMAP is pretty much on itself. The folders and the
messages do not obey to the rules. I think that is because they
technically do not reside on your Mac, but on the server.

I only dabble with IMAP with my .Mac account, but always revert it to POP
with leaving the messages on the server for 10 days. Best of both worlds

Not sure why this happened, but you can probably resize it after
selecting the "zoom window" item in the Window menu.

- verify the conditions of the "Spam: evaluate" filter; maybe the message

That's odd - I'm sure you're right, but I can't actually see a 'reply-to'

Since 2 days I am experiencing the same problem.

The first week or so after the upgrade it all worked fine.

The only changes I've done during the past 2 days (since the problem
begun to occur) was to create some new filters and to adjust some
existing ones. I did not touch the existing spam filters though. Another
thing I noticed is that when using Mark as SPAM it does not set the label
to spam (as it did). Applying the Spam: actions filter after marking as
spam, will correctly label the spam.

Relaunch PM, hold command-option, and choose the checkbox labeled "reset
window-related settings" (or whatever it is called).

Yup there is; on May 15 Jérôme explained:

So create a Send.icns in your custom icons folder.

Yup, just like any other app under Mac OS X -- open your System

Thin Folder List window

2004-05-31 Thread Hands On (SW sub)

Here is an odd one with my PM5 installation.

When I did the upgrade, all my windows opened in the locations where they
last were when I closed PM4 for the last time.

However, the Folder List window (ctrl-cmd-L, which I use all the time,
rather than the Mail Browser window) shows up as a very thin (2mm)
vertical line. If I double click on the top portion of this it
minimizes, and if I close it (cmd-W) then it goes away, but everytime I
open it, it comes back as just this thin line.

I obviously can't see the list of folders this way!

Any suggestions?

Also, is there any way to change the default icons in the Window toolbar?
I would really like to be able to put back the simple aqua "Send"
button, rather than the faux-postal stamp.

And can key-commands be allocated to buttons or menus in PM? I would
like to be able to change some to be more intune with other programs that

Spamsieve not working in 5.0?

2004-05-31 Thread Hands On (SW sub)

Having a similar problem to Gunnar.

I can't see that I have another version of SpamS. running, but the Stats
for SS do not indicate any messages going into Filtered Mail or changing
the SS accuracy listing, but each manually marked Spam message does go
into the Corpus count.

I have an other test installation on a separate machine, with the same
filtering settings as far as I can tell, and it seems to be working OK
with new messages increasing the Filtered Mail count.

Puzzled.

Re: Purchasing PM5. How does it work?

2004-05-31 Thread Hands On (SW sub)

Alan raises some important issues that need to be brought home to PM
marketing.

I am quite pleased with PM generally, and have really appreciated the
speed and efficiency since the Fox Trot search technology was
implemented. I am also quite eager to support a small independent (and
European) Mac developer with deserved upgrade fees.

However,
1) The delay in delivering the registration codes is really unnecessary.
This was complicated by the fact that I made the migration just after
making the on-line order (thinking it would be soon arriving), but was
then told by PM5 installation that because there are over 200 messages
(nearly 20,000, in fact), I cannot send or receive messages until I have
registered. How then, is the average user (who may only have POP3
access, via PM) supposed to be able to get their e-mailed registration
code? If I didn't have other means (i.e. SSH/Telnet) to access
my accounts, I couldn't get the registration code when it is finally sent!

The CTM website should be more specific in instructing users NOT to
upgrade until they have the registration code. Also, with the very
reliable, instant CCard processing services like Kagi or Esellerate
available, why should paying users have to wait 24 hours, 36 hours, or
God forbid, one week, to get a registration code??

2) CTM needs to seriously revamp their web interface design and web
structure with its numerous 404 dead link pages. (For example, the page
that comes up when I click on "Buy and Register Now" in the PM menu! Not
very convincing sales and marketing tool, if you ask me -- and this seems
to be the experience reported by several others.)

3) Can I suggest that CTM move the PM site to a more modern content
management system with web-based discussion forums, FAQs, Feature
requests, beginner forums, conversion discussions, advanced scripting,
etc. This could work in tandum with, or in addition to, this mailing
list, which has a great group of very helpful contributors. This would
better reflect the reality
of PowerMail as an active, developing, community driven, quality e-mail
product, and I dare say encourage a lot more converts and buyers who may
have been turned away by a dead link or the amature and out-of-date
website.

4) Either by integrating this list with a web-board, or by simply moving
this discussion list to a more sofisticated mail list management system,
the list discussions should come with a marked Subject line [PMdiscuss]
that would greatly facilitate identifying and sorting list messages from
other mail.

I hope that CTM can invest some of their revenues from this new release
into the above improvements, as well as continued quality PM development.

Kudos on the new release! I'd love to hear other's comments on my
suggestions above.

correcing date

2004-05-31 Thread david.gordon

I have re-imported some mail into PM. A couple of messages have their
dates corrupted somehow. They list as 22.02.09 rather than 22.02.04. They
now sit like sore thumbs at the top of my mailbox and annoy me!

Can I reset the date to the correct year? I know there is a script "fix
incorrect dates" but doesn't that make the date today, which is also wrong?

(PM 4.2.1 BTW, I've decided 5 isn't for me...)

Thanks
