Far from helpful reply alert:

No, no and no. I have the software, I haven't tried it yet, no time. :-(

Cheers,

Try the 68K/OS ROM with another emulator.
The trial version of Qemulator has expired.

[Ql-Users] SMSQmulator Quick Update

2013-02-14 Thread Bob Spelten

Hi Wolfgang,

Just now my QPC crashed in a spectacular way while working on my SQRview
upgrade.

It was still howling for a few seconds after removal by Task Manager.

This gave me the opportunity to give the latest SMSQ/m a quick try.
I must say it makes a HUGE difference in speed on my 4 year old (today)
Vista machine.
The mouse is actually moving instead of disappearing for seconds while I
wait for it to pop-up somewhere.
I dared start Xchange and it opened in an instant, with a normal flashing
cursor and adding text as fast as I could type.
A quick test with SuQcess and BMP made it feel as fast as QPC2 on my old
400MHz/W98 machine, which I was happy with for years.

Thanks for the fix,
Bob

Yup.

There's no reliable way to get the caps lock status from Java, sorry.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for that info.

This seems to indicate that the slowness on your machine was more to do
with the screen updates than with the emulation code itself.

OK, so SMSQmulator is a huge step -- backwards

(Message to Urs: Should I rename it to BQL - Backwards Quantum Leap?) :-)

Yeah Java is kind of ugly in that sense, unless one is willing to take the
hit of using JNA to get
access to
KeyboardUtilswhich
supposedly gets the job done in a fairly portable way.

Öhm,

it's quite some time when I was working as a Java developer, but how about

Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getLockingKeyState(KeyEvent.VK_CAPS_LOCK);

Hi Tobias,

You are right, that is the way that works in quite a few environments but
apparently not everywhere so it is not entirely reliable.

Yes, Wolfgang, have read that tonight. A shame.
But isn't "doesn't work everwhere" somewhat better than "not implemented"?

You're probabbly right, but I'm going to get complaints "why does it
work there but not here...".

I'll see what I can do and mention it in the manual.
