I really thought about moving to Florida when I got sick but then my Mom
said don’t because you can't get any help here and man is she right.  That
state is terrible in the giving help to those who need it dept but then look who
is the Governor, Bush's bro.

Amazing, the differences in our states. I have
medicare/medicaid and was told with both all I could get was 1 visit (an hour)
a day just 3 days a week and I'm a c3-c4 quad and can do none of my ADL's
independently ... Before I was put on medicare I could get thru just medicaid
  2 visits a day 7 days a week.

Anyone else in Florida on here (that needs

  making it?

I was on the "waiting" list for two years, never
did get on the damn waiver list. Finally, I gave up and here I sit. I don't
wanna spend the rest of my life in a nursing home, despite the good care I
receive here, but I'm scared to get back out there, ya know?

Hey, Im a c7 going on 8 years post. As far as popping in the shoulders , this is normal to some extent. Ranging your shoulders out should help this. If your shoulders are hurting badly for a long period of time I would go easy on them for awhile and see if it gets any better. All the doc is going to do is ask if you want a cortisone shot, or he may insult you saying you have carpal tunnel syndrone. The key is dont get to excited over this, the pain may go away and time will tell you how to deal with it. Ive had minor shoulder injuries and got scared but I pulled through. Dr. Wice told me something a few years ago about quad living.ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. This statement pissed me off but now I can see where hes coming from. Be strong and if it doesnt get better by all means consult the doc.

2005-12-21 Thread GHenry1
I totally disagree, but not all injuries are the same.

I just went through this problem, PLUS a shredded tendon in my right shoulder.
The doctor recommended surgery, but I ask to try therapy at home with the
strechy bands. Within six weeks of intensive therapy, NO PAIN!

My right arm only has half the strength it had, but that is due to the tendon
tear. If a tendon is not repaired within 72 hours it dies. Mine was already
dead.

Think before you go under the knife.

It's ironic that in all these years, I've never met anyone associated with
medicare/medicaid with a disability. Yet they never seems to hesitate offering
what they think about the terms of the new policies regarding benefits.
Usually, they are wrong.
How ironic is that?

Well, I just finished the movie Murderball. A pretty good movie, but not
as moving as Rory Oshea. Plus, it seemed to have an underlying tone of
anger. And, I'd be curious to know how many of us have developed our
biceps and deltoids like these guys. I have both those muscles, but I'm

When you are stuck in bed, instead of using the dry
shampoo, you might consider obtaining an inflatable shampoo ring that allows
you to get your hair wash while in bed.  The water drains through a
plastic tube on the bottom-outside edge of the ring.  I use a plastic
trash can to catch the water.  I have been using one for years and take
in with me on travel, hospital visits, etc.  You just have to replace
them now and then as they are not very durable.  You can see and order

MerryChristmas everybody,

my prayers go out to you folks who are having serious medical issues. I
am only 4 years post but, 2 years ago, I made up my mind after coming to
know many 10, 20+ years post injury peers that I should try to do
something proactive for my shoulders. 1 choice was to not use a manual
chair ever, the other was to workout 3-5 times/week. I was beginning to
have problems like Dan so I went to a P T. I learned from him how to use
my shoulders correctly. Essentially, I lock my shoulder into place before
I use it. It is a simple action, but did take some training. If you have
some P T access, consider doing what I did. I no longer have any
clunky, noisy sounds and only occasional pain after a hard workout.

Best health and GOOD STUFF to all,

Brien

Better see a doctor don't put it off. Hubby has trouble with his
shoulders, he has been in the chair for 54 yrs. and he has a lot of shoulder
pain. After all your shoulders were not meant to do the job they are doing.
Putting off going to the doc. just makes matters worse. Good

Quads are often discouraged to get higher education because we are
such high suicide risks and why put a lot of money into someone is this
physically limited. You got to stay on them. Don't let them make verbal
promises to you.. Get them to put it in writing. Don't be afraid to call
your state representative.

I was beginning
to have problems like Dan so I went to a P T. I learned from him how to
use my shoulders correctly. Essentially, I lock my shoulder into place
before I use it. It is a simple action, but did take some training. If
you have some P T access, consider doing what I did. I no longer have
any clunky, noisy sounds and only occasional pain after a hard workout.

Best health and GOOD STUFF to all,

Brien

[QUAD-L] About torn roter cuff and shoulder pain
